Quick question can you re use roll pins on an ar? I got mixed responses on re using the pin for the gas block. Also I took apart my bcg do I need to use new pins that hold in the ejector and extractor?

With the price of a roll pin, meh

Kinda like reusing a cotter pin, I've always just viewed such things as a one use item.

The extractor pin is not a roll pin. Unless it had a lot of use, showed damaged, or was defective I would not replace it in my gun.

For me, roll pins are a one time use item.

Other items that are one time use include: taper pins, crush washers, castle nuts, end plates, gas keys, gas key screws and pistol grip screw lock washers. Also, depending on how bad they look, barrel nuts.

Okay I bought a few extra roll pins for the bcg for 2 bucks. What about straight pins used to pin the gas block to the barrel? Its not a roll pin just a straight pin. Also can you reuse the firing pin retaining pin? All my life I have heard never to use the same pin twice.

The firing pin retaining pin can be used over and over again. Straight pins for the gas block usually need to be replaced once removed if they are anything like what RRA or LMT uses.

NO !  Roll pins are a one time use thing. They're so cheap there is no good reason why you should not have some in stock. Oh sure there is some cheap ass people who will tell you to reuse the pin but once you remove one you should replace it with a NEW roll pin.

The extractor pin is not a roll pin. The ejector pin is.

Every time I have removed one of my ejectors the roll pin was pretty beat up. I would not want to re-use it.

"Straight pins" or "dowel pins" are the same thing. They can get pretty beat up during the removal process so I would replace them.
