Upper: SOLGW 11.5 V2 BCG: SOLGW Enhanced OCKS CH: Radian SD SL Pictures: https://imgur.com/a/ooQNKxk I’ve got 200rds (suppressed) max on the upper. Does it look to be normal wear? When comparing to my older rifles & my FN M4 Upper, they look brand new compared to this. (Aero HBAR Upper w/3kish rds)(FN M4 Upper (1k on upper, 150rds on new CenturinArms Barrel). At first I thought the anodizing was bad, went to use a CLP Spray Can & thought I was wiping away the anodizing. I know it’s a disposable part, just seems like a lot of anodizing has been taken off for the low round. I appreciate the feedback! |
| Is there wear on the bcg or gas key? Is there any tilt to the gas tube nub in the receiver? Does bolt have any marks on the lugs? What buffer weight on this 11.5? Is it sprinco spring (which color)? Assuming m193 or m855--Where on clock is brass ejecting/is it consistent? I have had similar abnormal wear in a lightweight build that was over gassed and improperly sprung with not enough buffer weight. BCG was moving way too fast in my case and the scraping was happpening on the return stroke due to violence of action. |

Suppressor not helping the cause, with the amount of fouling that is blasted back into the action from it, but would really need to see the carrier key, and even the top of the carrier flats to the sides of the key, since these are the mating surface parts (with fouling), that is causing the accelerated wear. And to note, most 223 gun powders take more than 18" to achieve full burn, so with short barrel, lot of unburnt powder pushed to suppressors baffles, and then blasted back into action via blow back pressure from the suppressor. And the part that is not making sense on some of the rigs (short of a phone booth fire fights), something like 9mm CMMG Radial Delayed Blowback System bolt and barrel , barrel shorted to about 14.5", to run 9 major ammo with 224Gr cast powder coated trunicated design bullet moving about 2Kfps out of the muzzle, better wider penetration channel , and more devastating with flying ashtray hp bullet to transfer all the energy in the first few inches. Also to point out, hell of lot cheaper to reload 9 major with HS6 at around $.04 per round (22lr ammo cost), then is it to load 223 in the first place. Simply , 223, 55gr out of 11" barrel, about 2300fps, 645lb muzzle energy On the other hand, 9 major, 124gr out of 14.5' barrel, about 2000fps, 1101lbs muzzle energy instead. And no, powder coated cast bullets will not lead barrel at speed of over 2Kfps, and even safe to use in tenifer/mellonite/carbonized treated bores for the same reason as well. |

OP, I know this is an old thread and hopefully you’ve got it resolved, but while the wear in your photos looks patchy, it’s normal to wear through the black where the bolt carrier rides. I don’t think it’s normal to do so that quickly, even suppressed, though. Perhaps that patchiness is what it looks like a few hundo in? Just checked a Mk18 clone with only a few hundred rounds (mostly suppressed) on it, and the wear is patchy, but the wear spots are more gray than silver. I put some CLP on it, so I can look at clean metal later. |
