I guess I have more AR mags than I thought. The wife found a 2' X 3' cardboard box in the closet full of AR mags I had forgotten about a week ago while she was looking for something. Do you know how hard it is to explain to a non gun person why you have that many mags for one type of gun? I felt my explanation sounded like bullshit and I believed it. Anyway I cant buy anymore AR mags for awhile, I will instead concentrate on pistol mags. Except I did just see a great sale on USGI mags that had them in stock.

It would be irresponsible of me to pass that up right?

Wow.  There are some serious collections here.

Can't say that I'm on the level of anyone here [broke as all heck student here], but I'm certainly trying.  I've gotabout 15 mags on hand, and 20 more on the way [10 FDE pmags and 10 black coated aluminum 30's].  Ultimate goal is about 50 mags, plus spare followers and springs.

Plus ammo, of course

Yer stahs took probably $2500 to acquire, but at today's auction prices is worth anywhere from $5K on up.  If a hicap ban happens, it'll be priceless...

Yeah, I calculated it at around $8,500 at current prices. Although there's no telling what the 45 rd bakelites are worth right now.

To add to the pool table theme

And this is after I sold off 70 of new in package pmags and think I might sell the 30 above the pistols as I have back ordered that many.
.  I started 2012 with maybe 8 ar15 mags .  I added up how much I spent on guns/mags/ammo this year could have bought 2 M16's

And then I had a boating accident it was tragic.

i thought i had a bunch of mags until the recent price craziness

it was then that i realized i actually need crates of the damned things

no idea how many mags i have as they're stashed in safes, cans, bags and rifles all over the place

i used to keep all my range mags on the shelf in my gun room but i think most of them are going to find their way into a safe now

Nice collection.  I concur that the mags with  ammo should be in a safe. Ammo should also be in a safe.    I see a lot of people with unsecured ammo and mags on this thread.     Lets be responsible gun owners and secure this stuff.

What would you rather carry for a bugout situation: S&W M&P15-22 or an AR?

My thoughts are the bullets are lighter for the .22, so I can carry more.  The weapon itself is also lighter than either of my AR's.  My main concern is .22 enough?  I know it's accurate, but what about stopping power.  One shot, one kill still applies to .22 if it's well placed.

In a bug out situation i would like the battery life of my optic to last longer than the Lord of the rings trilogy.

I've got another 35 on order since the panic.   20- Brownell's enhanced(B/O) and 10- winnowed PMags(B/O) and 5 E-Lander. Hopefully I'll get the two backorders from Bownell's. If not, I'll make due.

Edit: Those are all AR mags, most USGI with about 7-8 PMags. I didn't want to unbox my AK mags. I have about as many of those along with 2 75rd Chinese drums.

I am in AWE of the number of mags some of you guys have, well, most of you have!  Now a question...How many of you are buying mags so you can resell at a profit?  I only ask b/c most of the pictures show your mags still in plastic.  And, YES I am jealous cuz I need more mags!  Keep the pics coming!

I bought mine is some sort of investment. I would like to have 5 mags per gun and with 2 ar-15s and 47mags I am good to go. If the price is right I would sale mine but haven't really made the effort. As an investment standpoint I could over double what I put into it in only a few months.
