Thought that was a GG mag. Very unique and nice setup. Maybe I shouldn't have sold my .45 upper.

XM177E1 (with a 607 moderator for now)

Edit:  Forgot I used a slickside upper, I suppose it's a model 610, not a 609.

Thanks; I used a 16" lightweight chrome-lined CMMG and had Pat shorten it and pin one of his moderators on.

My newest creation... AR SBR 177ish clone:

American Spirit Arms lower
Retro Aluminum two position collapsible stock
177 moderator replica made by Pat Medders (AR15.com)
Upper is an A2
Barrel is a 5.56 heavy barrel, cut at 12 1/2" and lathed especially for the 203 barrel band to fit.
Handguard barrel nut assembly is a early straight Colt.
Pistol grip is early Colt.
M203 is a 40mm Shivak, with a 9" Colt barrel.
Handguard is a early model shortie with leaf sight attached.
OAL with stock closed is 30 5/8"
OAL with stock extended is 33 3/4"
Moderator is 4 1/2" long
Here is a close up of the front end:

Here's the other side:

I still have to decide what camo pattern to use. Either tiger stripe or a simple green/black pattern. Once I decide and get her war paint on, I'll post more photos.

Munitions are, clockwise from top L:
White, Green, and Red para flares
White Star Cluster, CS Gas, and two M576 buckshot
M407 Practice, M397 Bounding HR replica, M381 HE Replica, M433 Replica, and another M381 Replica,
Red, Green, and Yellow Ground Smoke Markers.
All rounds are live and real except for HE replicas.

That is really neat. But you could be in the wrong forum. That is an A2 upper.. Oh it's ok you have a moderator and an A1 grip.  Looks like a fun carbine.

Retro newb question - is that barrel plus moderator 16"+ OAL?

Nice combo Grog.
Of course I'd be dissapointed if you didn't have an M203 in your pictures.

Yep, overall length is just a nick past 16".

I also still have a short rifle.

Next week I will be cutting the barrel down and lopping off the bayo lug so it's the right length, but I have decided to leave the three prong on it.

This is giving me the jones to either have Pat do my existing barrel or to build a whole new retro based on a new NDS upper and lower.

ETA - I just noticed this was a midlength - Doh!  A great look, very balanced.

Post some more details on your rifle. What manufacture is the upper, did you purchase the upper compete, how long did 45 Bravo take on the work he did, did you just send him the barrel or the entire upper assembly, ect,ect...

Again, that's a work of art. I've found my next rifle.

No sweat!  The upper receiver is a Colt A1 with no forge codes that I scrounged off the EE and the lower is an NDS A1.  I used a 16" lightweight chrome-lined CMMG mid-length that I waited on for about two months.  When it showed up, I put it right back in the mail to Pat (45Bravo) who had it for about another month; he shortened it and added a slip-over 4.5" moderator, shaved the bayonet lug and re-park'd it.  I built this rig this time last year and he was super busy doing barrel work because of the ridiculous  "Obama Scare".  Once I got it back, I put it all together with my EA two-position aluminum stock and a set of middy handguards that I had to modify a little to fit the round handguard end-cap.  The bolt and carrier grouping is a chromed Young MFG that I had to stake properly myself.  Funny thing about that was that I read a post somewhere on the boards that Young ships out their BCGs without staking them, so I checked mine the night before going to shoot and sure enough, it wasn't staked.  Wonder what woulda happened had I not checked...  Including the cost and the work that Pat did, I have close to $500 in the barrel alone so this ain't exactly a cheap project, but I love this thing.  Chornish and a somebody else are still building theirs so hopefully there will be more to come.

Somebody still needs to build a middy 607...

Thanks John. I really wanted to get a better upper for that rig, but funds are tight right now. Perhaps one of those NODAK early flatside uppers might work. They look pretty nice. GROG
