I'm talking about driving so no need for the TSA rated stuff. I hate walking in and out of hotels with "tactical" looking bags so I've been on the lookout for something to carry an 11.5" folding AR and some misc items. Last night I got an email from Viktos for a new bag they came out with called the counteract SBR which fits all the criteria. The issue I have is dropping $250 on a bag for this use. What is everyone else using? What other options are out there in a little more of a reasonable price range? Don't get me wrong, I like Viktos products and this is a really nice looking bag, but I'd prefer to be frugal and spend more money on some quality AR stuff. Before it is suggested, I already have a tennis racket case but I'm not much of a tennis player. I look goofy as hell walking around with that thing. |

I've seen and used a few duffel bags that would fit an SBR. One of the larger camo duffle bags I used to have was from Cabelas. It was pretty big. I could put my soft side SBR case in it, flat on bottom, then stack my cloths, a few books or whatever on top, or I could put the cloths and books/magazines on bottom and the soft side SBR case on top. Either way, I carried it into several hotels and other places and no one ever knew I had a rifle, suppressor and 6, 30 rnd magpul mags in with my cloths. I mainly did that, as I used to live in the hood and did everything I could to keep Opsec and not let the neighbors see me carrying anything gun related and and out of the house. Or while gone, one of them would be kind enough to kick in the back door and clean me out. I had a privacy fence down my driveway and one side of my house, between the neighbor and I (just happened, not by design) and when I was going to the range or away for a weekend, I'd back down the driveway along side that fence, then bring all my guns stuff out the back door and load into the truck. That way, no one could see what I was moving in or out. |

I would use a blue gym bag to carry it in and out of hotels. It doesn't have to be heavy duty to carry a rifle and a couple of magazines across a parking lot and through a hotel lobby. It would blend in with my other road trip luggage, especially in a pile on a hotel luggage cart. A duffel bag is a bad choice for a compact rifle or PDW if it's for EDC but fine to covertly move firearms between a building and a vehicle. |

I've carried a short shotgun, 10/22, and M4 at the same time, plus a few mags and a pistol too. My travel bag is an Eagle case, front pocket has mag carriers, back pocket holds a shorty. Tennis racket case, viola/violin case, get creative. I have a Phitz viola case but poking around on the internet it doesn’t look they’re still around. Just search “viola case” on amazon and you’ll get lots of options for relatively cheap. |

Me, I use a backpack. I don't like tennis racket, or sporting bags or musical instruments. Mostly because I'm a 40+ years old bald fatty so it would look so freaking out of place that it would immediately scream suspicious. I have tried a golf bag as well which seems to fit very well actually. I guess if you look the part it might be okay. |

A plain jane tool bag like this might work. I just ordered one for my tools, but it should fit a 16" carbine broken down or an SBR with a folding stock, plus a bunch of mags and other stuff. ETA: got mine today, it easily fits a scoped 16" .308 AR broken down, with plenty more room to spare. Also fits a torque wrench in a 26" clamshell case diagonally in case anyone else was looking for a tool bag long enough to fit a torque wrench. |
