BCM Forward Assist Spring: 1.65g Northtech Titanium Forward Assist: 14.24g Northtech Titanium Forward Assist Spring: 1.42g V7 Weapon Systems Forward Assist: 9.02g V7 Weapon Systems Forward Assist Spring: 1.58g So moving from the BCM to the V7 saved me 0.4 ounces. As far as lightened small parts go, that's a pretty big savings. |

I considered just getting the plug, but figured I'd give some of the lightweight options a try. I wanted to avoid a chopped non functional look. I finally got my Aimpoint T1 on an Absolute Co-witness mount from LaRue. I ended up trying the VFZ type for additional weight savings. The entire optic with batteries and mount is 5.35 ounces. |

Hopefully wrapping up the upper for this one up this evening. Mag Tactical lower, Mission First stock and grip(with trap door removed), V7 buffer tube, castle nut and plate, Ti take down pins(have aluminum ones also), ambi safety, mag release and Taccom buffer, Hated pinning in that standard bolt catch....lol. Rock River two stage trigger in for the moment.
Trigger suggestions???? Obviously want something light, but also wanting a really good single stage trigger for it.

Trijicon RMR on an American Defense mount. 5 pounds and 1 ounce with optic and empty 20 round aluminum mag.

One day I am going to finish this build I am still trying to decide what way to go with it and might do a 2nd similar build. Specs so far: (going to change some stuff) Magtac upper/lower SSAE Moe grip/stock and ASAP plate (might go with v7 a lot lighter 1.3oz vs .2oz ) also might change stock Standard LPK SCT titiniam BCG bcm mod4 charging Spikes 14.5 lw mid length barrel Geissele 13" rail (might change) Pig of a gas block on scale (2.6oz) will be going with a ltw one maybe a v7 (.74oz) RRA brake on scale (3oz) might go with saker (3.5oz) or lighter Vdi manimal 1.5oz Primary arms red dot with riser 6.4oz might change but not likely Adding magpul BUIS just goes over 6lbs Edit ok decided I am going to make some major changes and do a 2nd build that might just go over 6lbs With the changes and adding BUIS and a BAD lever should put me at 5lb 8oz |

I don't know how you guys do it. I'm working on a KISS IDF clone and today I finally got it fully functional. I figured I would try out for the JV team over here while I was at it. With empty magazine: 5 lb 15 oz Without magazine: 5 lb 10.9 oz This thing has a lightweight barrel and skinny plastic handguards and is still pushing 6 lbs. I just don't see how some of the people who post in this thread are truly under 6 lbs. I guess a flattop a upper, lighter grip, cutting the barrel to 14.5" and running a carbine buffer would knock a little off but it wouldn't get it anywhere close to 5 lbs.   |
