So, I did something I rarely do, and decided to try something new. Normally, I put Surefire lights/switches on everything -- they have their occasional quirks, but they generally can be depended on to work. This time, I went with a Modlite, Unity Gascap, and Link USB-C pressure switch. The Modlite is great, and the Gascap click tailcap works fine, but the Unity USB-C pressure switch, new out of the bag, appears to have a short. Plug it in, and the light won't turn off. I've tried different batteries, a different light body/head, plugging it firmly, lightly, cap tighter and not, etc. I'd normally wait to comment on it until I see how the dealer/Unity is going to handle it, but in this case... I'm sorry. You charge around $80 bucks for a USB-C plug, some wire, and a contact switch... and it doesn't even work? How do you fuck up something as simple as an on/off pressure switch? That's a pretty low bar. I guarantee I could buy a knock-off Chinesium pressure switch right now and it'd at least work out of the box. Either way, waiting to see if the dealer is going to make it right or if I'll have to try to get it fixed through Unity. Maybe I just had extremely bad luck, but it's still annoying to pay that kind of money for a non-functional product. |

Dealer wouldn't replace it. Modlite will fix it, but I have to ship it to them on my dime -- no offer to provide a shipping label. I'm glad they're going to fix it, but asking the customer to foot the bill for shipping on an absolutely brand-new item that was clearly defective from the factory isn't exactly stellar customer service. ETA: Oh, and "Please allow up to 3 weeks (15 business days) for the warranty to be fully processed." |

| So far I've had 2 Gas caps and 1 SYNC USB-C unit have catastrophic failures resulting in either failure to activate, or failure to allow the light to be turned off. For Surefire switches, I have had 1 clicky fail on me back in 2008 (Surefire replaced it with 2, without requesting the old clicky back, as it was an issue they were aware of and fixed in production). That's it. That's all. This is why I now use a MAWL and scout clicky. |

Well, it's now been 2 weeks since the RMA was delivered, and not a peep from Modlite. I guess they intend to use the entire 3 weeks, assuming it even comes back within that timeframe. I find it utterly amazing that this level of shit service is seen to be acceptable. If you charge the sort of prices they do, you damn well should be falling over backwards to make it right when something doesn't work. To demand the customer pay even more to fix their mistake, and then be without a functional product for nearly a month -- that is absolutely insane to me. They act like they are doing you a favor by doing the absolute bare minimum and fixing their defective product. | This thread is disappointing to read as I was thinking about buying this setup to replace the Surefire switch that causes the light to flicker a bit. I know the clicky cap is the way to go but I have the light mounted too far forward in my 15"rail to reach it. Moving it farther back really isn't an option because I want to try and limit suppressor shadow. |

That being said, nobody is immune from issues. Bullshit. There are tons of posts about the Gascap not working and people having poor results with their CS. Mine isn't even on a DF light, its a normal Scout and is obviously a lower output than with the clicky. That's the whole thing they claimed to fix. |

I have had issues with unity products that used the SF interface with SF caps- with those issues, their CS has been responsive and helpful. I have had good luck with gas caps and the USB-C switches. I had an issue with their magnifier QD lever a few weeks back. Sent them an email through their contact form and had a new level within about a week, no questions asked. Doesn't mean they weren't helpful for *you*, but thats the most recent experience that *I* have had, and it mirrors other experiences I've had with them. Im sorry that I haven't had issues with them yet to fit your narrative. I'm not sitting here saying that issues don't exist, but I have had far more issues with the SF design than Unity's. Frankly, tape switches suck, but I've also found that when they work, they work, and when they don't, the issues tend to present themselves early. Test your gear. Might be more productive than calling bullshit on other forum members for simply sharing their experiences. |

I only started doing that when I found an issue, trying to see if there were ways to secure the plugs better to eliminate the flicker. When you drop the bolt with the light on and the light dims, I figured maybe the issue was sloppy tolerances. Figured out pretty easily that moving the SF plug around while inserted into the SF cap would cause the same issue. |
