I have recently changed from 9mm to 45ACP. I have found that a problem with buying bulk ammo is if you change calibers,  your stuck with bulk ammo thus 9mm and match grade .308. What to do with the ammo? Stores don't take it back.

Toss it in a ammo can and forget about it.  You will use it eventually, or sell it when it gets to $2.50/round.

Look at the prices on the EE and see if you want to sell it.

If you're convinced that your not going to use it, sell/trade it.

I sold my .40 S&W and .45 ACP guns/ammo. It wasn't much but less stuff in my house, the better.

Ammo is money in the bank. Keep it in a sealed ammo box with a desiccant pack and store the whole thing is a cool dry place.

You serious, Clark? Who switches from 9 to 45? Why not have both? Variety is the spice of life after all.

When you say “bulk”, how many rounds we talkin here?

One "adds a caliber", one does not "switch calibers."

Are there still Papa John's?  Best crappy Pizza out there...  I always like them better than any of the other major chains.
Now the lil Mom and Pops that are names after the grand parents 3-4 generations ago, thats some good pizza.

In St. Louis (and out West/NW of St. Louis) there is a family called Peronies, The is a place name that, then about 6-7 spin offs, all uncles, Bros or sons...

Sorry for the thread Hijack.

If you are really getting rid of ammo, maybe go to your local range and put up a flier "Ammo For Sale". If the price is reasonable someone will buy it up.

Personally I would keep it, unless I was living in a camper (or tent). When the next panic happens, sell/trade it for a caliber you do want. It seems like the Op is swimming against the current going from 9mm to 45 so it should work out well for him.

Also, the Op should look for "LE Trade-IN" ammo for the best prices on 45acp.

I wanted to trade it for .45ACP. I really don't want to mail it as I have to have proof of age just to cover my butt. I have 580 rounds of 9MM, 80 rounds of .308 Federal Gold medal 168gr Sierra MatchKing and Trophy Bonded ammunition. I guess I could just keep it. Anyway, I have to start collecting .45ACP.

You can sell that all day long.
Put it on marketplace or in the paper.

Your talking about half a case of 9mm ammo and 4 boxes of 308.  I was expecting way more.  Yeah I would just toss that little bit of ammo on a back shelf or in an ammo can and forget about it.

Ammo is a pretty nice commodity, so unless there is a compelling reason, just stash it.

Buy a police trade in 9mm and a Ar10 in 308 and sit on it unless you need the money.  Commodity for trading or sell it during the next true crisis.
