Magpul CTR for all the reasons stated by others. I think it is the de facto standard general purpose stock against which all others are measured. Best all-around choice.
For shooting prone or at bench where extra weight and LOP are useful, but a collapsible stock is still needed, I prefer the Magpul ACS. |

Unfortunately, I couldn't remove it fast enough once I had it installed. It's a quality stock, it's just too heavy and too over complicated for what I need in a stock. I admit that it would be a great collapsible stock for a beard oriented individual, but if I was in a position to where I had to decide between a stock and a beard, the beard would have to go. |

Luckily it's never been an issue for me since I don't have a beard (except for once from the end of 2006 into early 2007). My youngest brother keeps a full beard though, so I do get to hear his complaints about certain stocks occasionally. I've told him to just shave the beard many times, but it falls on deaf ears... In the end I can only lead a bearded horse to water. |

B5 stock. The one without battery compartments. Because I got it on eBay for a good price.

For carbine length, collapsible carbine stocks don't make sense (to me); at least that's where I landed. So Magpul fixed carbine stock.
Otherwise, I'm running a piston upper, so folding stock. ETA: If I do run a standard carbine collapsible stock, Magpul CTR. |

Ctr is my favorite for all the reasons already stated.
I wanted to like the mft minimalist... But it's just okay. I want to like the sopmod... But again it's just okay. I don't like the b5 bravo. Ctr is a great stock that does everything well and nothing wrong. |

I can confirm that Homeless Person and Wizard will get stuck under a CAR stock. But those VLTOR stocks are a different level grooming standards enforcement. Either BCM or CTR are fine, as are most of the decent brands that have survived in popularity to this point.

Haha! I only ever get to stubble before I shave, which is about 3 days max, but my youngest brother is always going between ship's captain and homeless person. He really seems to like his Rogers Super Stock which has a tension/friction adjustment. He never seems to catch his beard hairs with that one, but otherwise I'm not a fan of that stock. Edit: Years ago (around 2009 or 2010) I do recall getting a hair caught between a Colt M4 stock and the buffer tube at just a little past stubble length... So it doesn't take much. |

Magpul CTR
Magpul SL-S B5 SOPMOD TROY Battle Ax VLTOR IMOD I like them all for different reasons, most have already been listed. The Battle Ax is the dark horse of the bunch. Pictures make them look yuge but they seem more compact in the hand. Cheek weld isn’t perfect but it’s not bad either, and the clubfoot and bag riding capability are both nice too. Also enjoy my B5 CAR and ACE SOCOM but I mostly enjoy them for their aesthetics. |

Various carbine stock (GI style, Magpul, etc.) for a few years.
Then I decided to put one of the old A1 GI stocks on an 18 build and liked it so well I even put them on 16" builds now. They are just the right length for me with no messing around to get it right. |

THIS ONE.
Lightweight, solidly built just like the standard military stock, fits the tube tighter than most stocks, no sling loop attached to the bottom to snag on stuff. Attached File |

Distinguished beard guy here…
Strongly prefer, in order: UBR CTR Most others I’ve tried I don’t like. I broke my friends BCM stock the other day trying to mortar a stuck case out. I didn’t even whack it very hard… broke the “toe” section right off… just snapped and shattered. Damn thing cut my hand. I gave my buddy a LaRue RAT stock I had that was collecting dust as a replacement. The RAT or my UBRs or CTRs would not have broken like that. I’ve got some other crappy stock I need to replace… I can’t remember the brand, but it’s flimsy and the fit sucks. Another loser purchase… |

Magpul ACS and STR. I like the cheek weld and the ability to have some storage in the stock for batteries and whatever else i can fit in there.

Quoted: So far I'm really enjoying MAGPUL SL. But I recently ordered a SOPMOD to see what all the fuss is about. View Quote Ok. Got my SOPMOD in the mail this week. I NOW see what all the fuss is about. This is pretty awesome. I still like the SL too though if price is a factor. I have not tried the BCM Gunfighter yet. I want to though. |

I prefer Magpul Sl/SLK
CTR has great aesthetics, and IMO I like it on Shotguns/AKs/Big Bore ARs (.458 Socom) You have quite a few recoil pad options, and it accepts cheek risers. For shorter weapons I actually like the Sig Adjustable/Folding Stocks but those mount to Picatinny. |
|
The SOPMOD was my favorite for years, but I recently tried a Magpul SLS and like it even more.
|
|
Mostly waffle stocks, or the newer style waffle stocks with the QD points in front of the adjustment lever. Inexpensive ($15ish shipped most of the time), durable, lightweight, and functional. I have these on around 90% of my guns.
I also like MFT minimalist, I would probably run these on more guns if they were $15ish like waffle stocks. And last but not least, I like the A2 for bench guns. I do also like the SOPMOD and most any of the similar stocks that have the flat sloping cheek weld like that, but I don't actually own any of those, I just know they have been really comfortable when I have shot friends guns that had them on them. |
|
General: Magpul fixed carbine. Perfect length for anything on the fly.
Bench: ACE skeleton. Simple, rugged and comfortable A1 length (without butt pad). |
|
|
UBR Gen 2.
Probably not as cool as the Gen 1 but definitely not as beefy. They weigh more than standard adjustable but balance out a rifle so well. By the time I put a suppressor on the end they just even out and handle well. No problems with any Magpul or sopmod/B5 (especially when trying ti save weight) but I’m a little particular about continuity with my builds. I went with the UBR a few years ago and everything’s got one since. |
|
A majority of my rifles wear the LMT SOPMOD, or the B5 variant.
There are others with EMODs, a few M4 stocks, MOE, SL/S, but I'd say probably 70% of my guns have a SOPMOD. |

RRA waffle stock and tube kit.
I wanted to complete an M4gery. It was cheap. I hand picked one with a good tube fit. I didn't know it was commercial spec. The industry stupidly doesn't make more CSs. I dig the Magpul SL. |

BCM mod 0, I like the cheek weld and don’t like compartments., it’s light.

I like the look of the Mod-0 better but run Mod-1’s due to breakage stories. The Mod-0 seems pretty breakage prone at the sling slot, but the Mod-1 is solid and haven’t heard of it breaking yet. |
