| I’m in the middle of sourcing parts for a NJ compliant “other” build. I bought a 12.5” barrel, and am in need of a buffer tube that would be 6.25 inches long installed. Ideally the whole gun would be between 26.25-26.5 inches from end of buffer tube to end of barrel threads. I have tried searching different brands, but haven’t found anything close. Most I’m seeing are 7.25 oal, which would end up being around 0.5 inches longer than I need once installed. |

Tube is 5.25" Mini Milspec Buffer Tube with Mini M4 Stock Installed, collapsed configuration- 5 5/8” from back of receiver ETA: sorry - just noticed they're OOS. Strike Industries has short tubes, but they're slick - no ability to install a stock. |

LWRC makes some but they're full stock kits. Black is OOS but they have FDE. I actually have one myself on a 300 blackout. UCIW |

I guess I need to clarify… In NJ we can’t have “evil features” on an AR15 rifle. Stocks must be pinned, no bayonet lugs, flash hiders are illegal, and the compensator or muzzle brake must be pinned on the rifle. AR15 pistols are also illegal here BUT… we can have an “other” which is not a rifle or a pistol. An other can have a flash hider, and if the barrel is 12.5 inches it doesn’t need to be pinned and welded. The”other” must have a vertical hand grip attached to it, and it must have a pistol brace. Over all length from the end of the buffer tube to the end of the threads on the barrel must be at least 26”. I am using a 12.5” barrel to avoid having to pin and weld the flash hider, but I want to keep the over all length of the “other” between 26.25 and 26.5 inches because it is about as short as I can legally have it. So with that being said I really want to find a buffer tube that is long enough to keep me around 26.25ish inches. |

Do you know a good TIG welder? Take the too long buffer tube, carefully Dremel off the end, trim off that half inch, and get the end welded back on. As long as everything is square, the end is carefully tacked in place, and then sealed up I think it'll work. I think you'll probably have to play with different buffer spring lengths and probably buffer weights and sizes too, but that's way above my pay grade. Just a crazy idea. Good luck. |
