In case this helps any of you, if you have (or can source) an Aimpoint 7000 or 9000 that is a 2x model, the magnifier can be taken off. I did it on my 7000sc-2x and it’s fine. I had checked with aimpoint about this, and though it voids the warranty, it does work.

I put really low heat on the magnifier body near the aimpoint body and then grabbed the magnifier with some channel locks and it twisted off. It’s threaded into the aimpoint. Pretty simple and took all of 3 minutes. |

I seem to recall another guy in this thread going over the magnifier and trying to figure out if it would have been available in Oct 1993. Some period pics showed it was likely in use at the time, if I remember correctly. |

I think I saw them get you sorted in the Ops/AE thread in the suppressor section... The exact opposite happened to me. I got the AEM5 insert instead of the M4 insert. Adco was unaware at the time that Ron was shipping both sizes, but were quick to swap out inserts. Quality people right there.

It’s ever so slightly longer than the 5000s without the magnifier. |

Got my brt gas tube installed last week. Man that really helped my build. My 12.5" Gordon was spitting brass around 1-2 o'clock. Just way over gassed. Now it's spitting brass around 3 o'clock and steel case around 4 o'clock. It does cycle without the can but it kind of dribbles out. I wouldn't rely on it fully working that way but I never intend to shoot the gun unsuppressed.

I know the "correct" looking rings have been out of stock at Midwest for a while. Just snagged these on eBay last night for $10 a pair, rather than what $16 each? I'll report on how they are when I get them.

Besides Shughart’s M1A and a basic m16a1, is there any other logical Delta/Ranger clone?
I guess some 14.5” guns? M60 seems unrealistic lol Who was the other shot-down pilot with the MP5? Durant? A3 collapsible stock? My humble contribution to this thread Attached File Plot twist, what AK variant would have been prevalent in Somalia? |

I have seen a lot of underfolders, AKMS, in pictures from Somalia. But a good ole AKM would be just fine too. Who know what countries they could've received them from, but Russian, Bulgarian, East German, Egyptian and the like are all possible.

The checkering and the Fleur-De-Lis makes me think it’s just a standard 870. The forend doesn’t match (no checkering or Fleur-De-Lis) but could’ve been replaced with one not as long so it didn’t cover up the loading port when pulled to the rear. |

John does great work and has assured me he'll get it taken care of. The barrel is a 14.5 FN. I bought the M4 collar from Ron without realizing they come with different sleeves from the AEM5. ADCO made the sleeve that's compatible with the longer collar and AEM5. |

Should I go 12.5 or middy 14.5 pinned welded. Neither are 100% accurate, the 14.5 mid is less hassle but the 12.5 looks more accurate with ocm5 attached.
