summary- this is a very neat vid by preston moore YT demonstrating poi shift from applying pressure to ff hand guards causing poi shift from the barrel caused by what he can speculate the upper receiver flexing at the barrel nut using a sharp sighter set up on the upper. just about all hand guards tested were effected the same except those used by a non mil spec upper I remember this being discussed years ago but ended in an argument by SME's and was kinda put on the back burner. excited to see it again as it always intrigued me id personally like to see an OG Vltor MUR1A tested out of curiosity and some mono setups im curious if anyone else has data on this or had this effect or seen shooting shifted in any specific scenario, Id also like to see an ARMS setup for fun and nostalgia but those are unicorns  Measuring AR-15 Point of Impact Shift |

This was an issue when I attempted to shoot F class with a 24" heavy barrel AR. A Vltor upper helped, but did didn't solve the vertical stringing caused by inconsistent pressure on the rifle. Being extremely aware of cheek pressure and any pressure on the grip helped some. The best results were when no pressure was applied to the rifle. Edit: shooting bolt guns now, the amount of pressure applied to the gun has minimal impact on shots on target. |
