What is the smallest 9mm mag that will fit? In other words will it take Glock 19 mags? |
I don't have a problem buying 33 round mags but it would be so much better if it would also use the 15 round mags from the G19's. I have a 9mm Beretta CX4 that uses the same mags as my M9 and it is great. Less mags (different type) to worry about keeping track of. |

Seems like the bullpup design is a bit wasted on a pistol caliber, since a longer barrel isn't really much of a big deal. For rifle rounds, the longer barrel is a very good thing. Then again, the AUG design is about the coolest rifle I've ever seen and probably ever will see again! Plus, this carbine has other things going for it like the amazing design, caliber change flexibility, etc. Mag changes look like they would be a bit of a chore because of the bullpup design, but then again this is probably mostly a fun gun. OK, I still want one. I was trying to talk myself out of it. h.gif |
Except that the bullpup allows for a SBR-sized rifle w/o the stamp. That's a huge bonus AFAIC. |
+1 That's why I always say the bullpup is the best for civilian home defense. |
I'd be down with that.......  If MSAR will build a 14.5" or so version with permanent flash hider in 9mm, I will buy one as soon as it's available. I think it would fill the niche that i'm looking to fill. I want a short controllable carbine for home defense and pistol caliber carbine competitions. |

As far as I can tell y'all, that silver "lever" ahead of the magwell is the BOLT RELEASE, not the mag release. The mag release is the round silver button on the front of the magwell (You know, where the mag release is on a GLOCK handgun). In this position, the operator could reach back with the thumb of the firing hand, or the index finger of the off-hand just after seating the fresh mag, to release the bolt. ETA... Page 6 is MINE! AAAAAHHH HAAA HAAA HAAAA!!! |

Won't work, way past the time period where charges can be reversed. Back on topic.....I'm really considering one of these MSAR Pistol carbines, but they had better get a move on. If things don't happen soon I may be leaning towards a 9mm MP5 clone to go along with my GSG-5.

I'd like to hear from some of you folks with pistol caliber carbines already. The barrel length on the MSAR would obviously produce more velocity than your standard pistol barrel length for which most pistol rounds are designed to be fired from. Shooting JHP is there golng to be a problem with too much velocity causing very quick mushrooming (say expansion once it hits clothing like denim) and a problem in retaining the structure of the bullet? Seems like there could be some penetration problems as well. Like to hear what you guys think about this? |
You will gain some velocity, but nowhere near the same as shooting a rifle round in a pistol. Stick with bonded core ammo and the over expansion should be solved. |
Figured I would try to explain what I was saying earlier. I was on my iPhone and didn't want to type much. Pistol rounds are designed to use most of their powder in 4-5" and do not gain much going to 16", they even start losing velocity at a certain length. Hope that helps you a bit. I think I'm going to pick up one of the MSAR carbines in 9mm or .45acp, especially if they will make a 16" overall length barrel with a permanently mounted flash suppressor. I want it to be as short as possible for maneuverability for a home defense carbine, especially since SBR's are not legal in Washington State. |
| Well, what I would like to see with the MCS would be an integrated barrel suppressor assembly similiar to the one they were thinking of doing for the STG 556. That way I could have suppression with very little if any increase in OAL. That would be pretty ideal for a home defense pistol carbine (bullpup short OAL with suppression). |
I have the same interest, and for the same reasons (no SBRs here  ).I love my Oly 9mm ARs that use the Glock mags, but I wish they could be shorter... and I've always been a bulpup fan. Being able to switch between 9mm and .45ACP, and using mags I already have for both, is very appealing to me... |
