Good to hear! I like the LASERs - the illuminator is a little weak. But not an HS thread, so... I'm gonna save for a PERST-3 for sure. Thanks for the feedback!

pulled trigger on a perst 3 red laser unit,

i will have a surefire m952v for IR comparison and eotech lbc with red and IR laser. So far my eotech lbc vis red is brighter than any streamlight even in green.

The m952v is lack luster for IR, max illumination maybe 75 yards

I have a night vision class next weekend and I'm using an old i2 with a 952v. I have a feeling after this class I'll be changing up things.

Thanks for that. I just ordered an FDE “Plus” model. The page claims the Plus model have higher output across both visible and IR outputs.

I’ll compare it to my standard Perst-3 once it arrives and see what the differences are.

@horta you ever get yours?

Looks like I should have grabbed one as they are off the site now.

FYI: I asked Ivan and he said FDE/Tan Persts would be old stock. Something about the coating not being acceptable so they went back to only black.

I use it to PID critters when hunting out to 100-125yds but I don't know what it's going to be like for the class but I will definitely keep it updated.

Unfortunately, no. Black Phase posted their availability prematurely. He tried to get them, but I guess dealing with the Ruskies can be a bit daunting. He’s going for the P2 now so I’ll be ordering one of those, but he wasn’t yet able to get the FDE P3 in as of this moment.

Seems like a good guy, though.

Got the laser delivered today. Overall impressions are just ok for appearance and satisfied with performance. The switch to increase the power output of the laser is a neat feature. Will be out at my dad's property camping this weekend and we plan on doing a good bit of night shooting. I'm looking forward to comparing it to my two Holosun IR&Vis lasers. My only gripe is it didn't come with the switch, but it has two activation buttons so it shouldn't be a big deal. If anyone has one they wont use, I might be interested in making a deal.

I got it from a seller in South Carolina. I'm not sure what it's final use will be. I'm thinking of putting it on either my .45acp or 5.56mm AR pistol.

Anybody know the height above the rail of the lasers and illuminators on the perst 3+?

I’m wondering if it will clear the recessed rail on the Cloud Defensive COR rail?

But then where are you going to put your tape switches? The real question is.. Can you fit the Perst3 in front of the recess and put the Perst3 switch in the recess of the Cloud Defensive rail?

On a side note...

Why are there no output photos of the Perst2?

Great content!

I do believe you missed the section about 'programming' the switch per english manual translation

You can also adjust brightness of LED indicators by pressing and holding on/off button and pressing + or – buttons.Short pressing one of the switches turns selected laser or illuminator constantly on. Pressing again will turn it off. Pressing and holding button will turn laser on and it will turn off after releasing the button.  Double pressing the button turns on 2 Hz strobe mode. Double pressing and holding the button will turn 2 Hz strobe mode on and it will turn off after releasing the button.  After turning the unit off, the power and mode settings are saved.

In the Black Phase Tactical video, the dot size of the IR laser designator (Perst 3 Green + model) sure looked huge. The bloom was distracting. The dot size and control of the Perst 4 model looked much better IMO. I wonder if it was the video, or if that is the result of the "+" model?

I would like to see some pics of that illuminator down range, 300 - 800 yards. It looks small in the video, but bet it would fill the screen of a PVS 22/30 nicely down range.

Looks like the Cloud Defensive rail with forward channel will "probably" fit a PERST-4 but you would have to machine back that front lug the make room for the battery cap to be removed.  The rear channel version MAY fit the PERST switch, but it will be VERY close. Hopefully someone can try to see if they fit or will fit with very minor mods. For the switch, it comes down to where the cross slot is located. It is likely to require some minor trimming of the front of the switch mount on the rear cutout version of the Cloud Defensive rail. Looks like you could fit the PERST-4 in the rear cutout rail without mods though.

Cloud Defensive really needs to make longer rails and a version with the larger cutout up front.

Played with the PERST 4 a bit this weekend. Had to wait until late evening to be able to line up the red laser with my scope.  The intensity of the laser had to be turned all the way up to get any real distance but was able to get out to the end of my 200m range with it. Didn't shoot it much but overall satisfied with. Didn't take any photos though.

Thanks for the response.

I own a (edit), so if the pointer is similar that would be fine. The (edit) has the option/advantage of keeping the diffuser lens cover on if needed. True the (edit) will bloom especially on high, but there is still a defined dot in the center of the bloom. Guessing the video just can't pick up the center dot definition. Looking forward to the next video.

everyone saying the bloom is too much to be useful, thats JUST the camera causing that. I have tried and tried to make it not look like that and cannot get it just right. the DOT is much smaller through the human eye than the camera is picking it up. golf ball vs basketball size white bloom.

heres some really crappy photos showing the laser at about 60-70 yards, looks like a massive bloom through the camera, in person its the size of a golf ball or baseball, you could literally shoot a cat at 70 yards with it. the last 2 photos are the ir illuminator on low power and then high power. super hard to hold the cam steady I apologize, but it is what it is.

and here is the laser on full power at ~70yds. it LOOKS like a giant bloom next to the window (for size reference) but looking through it, its 1/5th the size of this bloom. the camera is picking up this monster halo around the actual dot and making it appear as all one big blob.

No, I have a vampire for that gun.  The -4 is nice and small and will fit it nicely.  On the other guns, the large -2 would work well, and would eliminate the need for a separate flash light.
