People often ask where to get engraving done.  Many of the tops places are often pricy once you factor in shipping and have long lead times.

So why not do it your self?

Building a 8" .300 BLK with a can and the whole rig will come in at under $900

Dear God... That is a work of art! Did you use a CNC engraver?

Nope, I prefer to free hand my work as it provides for a more "custom" look.  I used a Levi version 505 vice to support the lower and then carefully procedded with the ultimate engraving/gunsmithing tool...the dremel.

I did have a typo due to a leg cramp but as seen that was easily crossed out and we moved on. Unfortunately this caused me to run out of room and I had to continue the engraving on the front of the lower.

Hahaha holy crap my side hurts from laughing so hard.

I thought my SBR looked ghetto after I used punches to engrave it but man yours wins hands down!

As long as it meets the .003" minimum depth, and doesn't affect accuracy or reliability, it seems like a good idea. For the OP's, I wouldn't even reblacken it. Maybe colorfill in zombie green.

I did my 15-22, since several places I checked wouldn't touch the polymer lower:

Looks fantastic!

Did you make a mistake and then put a big X over it, and if so, isn't that a major problem?

No that's the typo, it's the town of Norcross, GA. I just put an X over the typo. If it's an issue I'll just fill the X with JB weld and have an odd space in the lettering.

Hahaha I was trying to get it all on one side but after having to X out a typo I figured I would just keep rolling.

I'll bite...

The 'a' and 'b' in REVOCabLE need to be capitalized for your engraving to meet the qualification. Break out another six-pack and warm up the Dremel.

For my second sbr I used a $8 stamp set from harbor freight. But I assume you already has the dremel and spending money was out of the question.

I feel like a sucker for paying $60 to get mine professionally engraved in the trigger area. To think, my $2,855 rifle could have been $2,795 and look like a train wreck.

I thought about the stamps.  But my buddy had a dremel and for a $30 lower I really didn't care.  If I end up hitting it with some krylon you probably won't even be able totell.

LOL OP.... You can make it MUCH smaller, and MUCH better by resting the object and dremel on a table and slowly moving them...

I used the engraving bit on the bottom....

I did the same thing and bought the stamp set from harbor freight.  Took a little work and some of the letters looked doubled but it works and doesn't look too bad.  This was after I tried engraving and that didn't work.

Did mine with a dremel. Locked it up in a vice I have. Printed out a thick vinyl stencil and took my time. The letters arent the same and depth varies, but it works.

That looks hardly deep enough

.003" minimum is roughly a sheet of notebook paper.

If it gets through the anodizing, and your fingernail can snag it, that's about all you need. Granted, most go much deeper than the minimum.
