Does anyone know of a release date and any dealers that are preordering?

Hyatt Coin and Gun in Charlotte Nc is pre-ordering. Sold out. They have their preorder max. |
I just ordered mine today and was told it would probably be 6 months before I see it.
Well I just called SIG USA and was told they shipped some rifles this week so I hope I get mine soon.
Sorry Well I was wrong the rifles wont start shipping till after aug.acording to SIG USA the guy their made a mistake thought I was talking about a pistol so the wait is on at lest I will almost have it paid for by the time it gets here the price is MSRP 543.00 for what sig states.
Shit....
I had mine paid for 3 months ago. The waiting is the hardest part. |

I still think that they'll show up by April like they said. April 2010? It's May already I wanted one but the C93 is calling louder...no SiG for me I guess, oh well. If the 522 came out when they said I'd have one already. |

I hope this doesn't end up being vaporware like the Sig P250 Subcompact. Been in their catalog since 2008 yet no one knows anything, not even SigArms USA. |

So no shipping until August :( And I now have a nice new C93 because of that...thanks SIG, thank you VERY much for delaying this rifle. |
I'm very interested in one but you would think with everything happening in the gun industry that they would be moving faster than they are! Who knows if any ban going to happen and an ammo tax be in effect.

Dunno release date but TopGunSupply.com has it advertised for $449. But not in stock of course.

all sig has done is prototypes . they do not even have the tooling as of last week. per our sig sales rep.

Sig emailed me back the next morning after I asked about date and details. From 06/29/09.
Dear Sir, There is no set release date for this rifle. We are expecting to start shipments in late fall 2009. We have already accumulated a very large list of orders for this rifle, so the best way to go about making sure you receive one would be to preorder through a sig dealer. We are unsure of what type of sight this rifle will be shipping with as it is still in the testing phase and we will not know until it gets released. Regards, Natasha |
I got an E-mail from Sig at the end of July, they said in August. Maybe BS, maybe not, but by all accounts it will be worth the wait, so we'll see. Mine is already preordered, so it's too late to turn back now.

From what I have read, the Sig 522 is made by GSG, the same as the GSG-5 H&K clone in .22. But, I also read that Umarex is making them for Sig, so I am not certain. The reviews are varied on guns from either source, some good, some poor. Many of the gun writers will not take honest critical evaluations and call junk what it is. There are a few that will so I will wait for those reviews. One honest evaluation team has declared the Smith and Wesson M&P15-22 to be a great gun and it is a few hundred bucks below the Sig and the Colt Umarex.
I have a pre-order in for the S&W15-22 for $372. GunBlast rated it as excellent. |

I was told they would be shipping in a few weeks....
I have 10 hi-cap SIG 522 mags in my possession now as I type this. |

Wow. Got to give sig credit for using an established magazine design. The Colt/Umarex and SW .22 use proprietary mags. Sounds like a good move on Sigs part.
Looks like I'm getting a Sig since the mags work with others I own, Colt really "F" the pooch by going with a mag of their own...........
can anyone else confirm that the upcoming SIG522 takes the BDM mags? I would like to buy at least another 10 for this rifle.
Yes, I have been corresponding with Sig and they confirmed (last week) they are using BDM mags (Sig branded). They are pushing for a release this "Fall, within the next month" but they want to absolutely make sure they make the rifle "perfect" before the 1st shipments. Also accessories won't be out for awhile and Sig556 accessories will most likely not be compatible. Keeping my fingers crossed and I hope this helps....

i"ll let you know. I have 6 of the rifles being delivered to me from Sig sometime today.
ok just unwrapped one. lower is a polymer material. gun comes with no sight. front sight block will only accept a sig 556 front sight. there is no nackup rear sight built into the gun like the 556.mags are infact BDS ar15 mags. barrel is threaded with a a2 brake installed.
Which distributor did your 522's come from? I am trying to gauge when mine will come in.
got mine yesterday. i don't like the bolt hold open design at all. it uses the mag follower to hold the bolt. there is a toggle for a bolt catch but that has to be done manually. so, last shot bolt held open, remove mag, bolt closes. kinda sucks.
Quoted: Pics of the sig 522 rifle please with a full report. +1 I guess there's hope of getting mine relatively soon. (LEO order directly from Sig)
I would love to see pics of the rifle and a review if possible. I really would like to get one but I'm willing to wait to see reviews before I put the money down on one.
