| I have an M1A and I wanted to try some Barnes 130 gr. TTSX to hunt deer. Has any one had any experience loading these in a semi auto firearm? I usually use LC brass. I anneal it, cut the primer pockets flat, clean and polish it along with all the other case prep. I will probably use CCI 34 primers. I have a keg of Data 223C that is on par with AA2460 for powder. Just want to know if there are any ejection problems with such a light bullet? Any help appreciated! |

I've used them in a semi auto before, they worked fine. However, being confined by magazine length, the TSX (no tip) can give you extra length to play with vs. the TTSX. Just something to consider when dealing with solid copper bullets. Quick AI numbers I see are the 130 TTSX (1.173") being longer than at least some 147gr FMJ's at 1.16 Bullet length isn't the only consideration, but when dealing with magazine limitations, it can be an important one. |

OP, if you don't end up likening the TTSX's, try swift scirocco's, they are an excellent hunting bullet that flat works.. In 308 they offer 150/165/180 and range from .430 to .520 BC and are extremely consistent..I've loaded them for years and killed everything from moose, grizzly's, brownies, wolves, wolverine, and fox and I don't remember what else I am forgetting, but they work excellent from point blank to over 600 yards for us... https://www.swiftbullets.com/collections/scirocco-rifle-bullets |
