I picked up a 15-22 pistol i have been wanting for a while.
First range trip multiple malfunctions and failures to feed and extract. Magazines kept kicking out after a few shots.
I separated the receivers and the hammer had a bunch of what looked like white paint or nail polish on the face of it.
I replaced it and the trigger and the mag catch and re oiled and fired again. It works better but am still seeing malfunctions at a higher rate than with my 15-22 rifle.
I used a few different types of ammo but the rifle ate all of it.
When i looked at the weapons side by side i noticed the newer bolt carrier has a weird slant cut into it that the rifle does not. The new one’s flash hider was also not timed correctly. That to me isn’t a huge deal, or at least it wouldn’t be if everything else worked fine but overall it feels like someone was either sloppy in assembly or lazy in QC. I’m hoping customer service can help and I have contacted them and will post responses and end results. Anyone else have any issues with their 15-22 pistol?

Maybe swap parts from the working rifle into the malfunctioning pistol?  Swap complete uppers 1st, see if that fixes it, then swap individual parts.

What's concerning is the magazine kicking out.  Is it kicking out b/c the bolt is opening too quickly & dumping gas down the magwell, or do you just need to tighten the mag catch?

I replaced the mag catch and trigger already and i think that made a serious improvement.
Can’t switch the uppers without a form 1 but i had a buddy that also had his pistol and flipping those cleared it up. The only combination that had any jams was my pistol lower and pistol upper together.
Gonna shoot another 1000 rounds and see if anything shakes out.

You can drop the rifle 16" upper on the pistol lower & see if the problems go away, or if the problems remain - in which case it's the mag catch or the FCG.

If the problems do go away, put the pistol upper back on the pistol lower, and start swapping parts.

You can pin a rifle upper onto a pistol lower in an attempt to eliminate the lower from being suspect.  The other way around can get you into trouble, but as long as you aren't shooting at a public range...who's to know

This is why I build up all my AR's and always build as a pistol FIRST

They had an issue if I remember with the extractors…….do a Google search, may just need to swap it for a new one

I had to bend my ejector upwards slightly. It's worked great since. (Fixed malfunctions anyway....I haven't had any magazine issues.)

Had multiple issues with mine a volquartsen extractor and tuning the ejector closing to the bolt fixed 99% of the problems.

It’s my most reliable rimfire now with the occasional fail to fire. I run mine suppressed and routinely go past 1k without cleaning it.
