| One of the Grendel books shows a load 26.9 AR Comp with the 129 ABLR's. I've gone to this load from my own development. It shoots extremely well in my Proof 20" AR. Right at 2400fps and .5MOA if I do my part. I am out to 800yd pretty regular. I even used it elk hunting. |

I pretty much use Xterminator and TAC for lighter bullets. The Western online loading data shows the same max velocity with both powders for 123 grain SMK 2424 FPS with 20” barrel. The Xterminator load used a little less powder than TAC and a little less pressure but could be different results with different lots of powder they are that close. For 123 grain bullets you can get better velocity using Accurate 2520, CFE223 or LeveRevolution. Temperature stable powders for 6.5 Grendel are IMR8208XBR, Benchmark, H4895 and AR Comp. Some people are getting good results with Shooters World powders. I bought some Shooters World Match Rifle but haven’t tested it yet. Shooters World burn rate chart shows Match Rifle close to Accurate 2520, CFE223 and Reloader 15. Hornady has good load data for 6.5 Grendel and Nosler, Shooters World and Hodgdon/Western have free online load data for 6.5 Grendel. |

I never shoot anything heavier than 108's. I know the 123 match bullets have great B.C.'s, but they can't safely be pushed very fast without going over 50,000 psi that the round is limited to. If you own a bolt action, you can bump the speed up some. 90's to 108's can be driven at high velocity. Sierra's 107 Match Kings have a nearly identical velocity, drift and drop as .308 M80 ball ammo when fired from 24" barrels. This makes BDC selection a no brainer. I think Nosler 100 grain bullets would be my first pick hunting. Sierra's 107 for target shooting. 90's and 95's for general fun days. |

Only brass that used large rifle primers was Wolf/PPU 6.5 Grendel ammo from several years ago. Current PPU ammo is using small rifle primers. I use CCI 450 and CCI 41 primers because of the thicker cups which resist slam fires in AR-15. Federal Match-AR, CCI BR4 and Remington 71/2 are gtg. |
| Not to highjack this thread, but I've tried getting answers in other threads with little success. For those of you shooting polymer tipped ammo, is it normal for a AR 6.5g to bend the polymer tip upon chambering? If I shoot a round and manually extract the round that got chambered, the polymer tip is bent. The only rounds this doesn't happen on are the 115 Barnes. 123 and 129s get bent. I have to imagine this significantly affects accuracy at distance. Does anyone have any suggestions or insight? |

I have several hundred PPU large rifle primer brass that was acquired over a few years. The original 6.5 Grendel brass cased LRP ammo was imported under the Wolf label. A few years later PPU sold their 6.5 Grendel LRP ammo in their blue boxes. PSA had a very good sale on the PPU 6.5 Grendel HP BT ammo. I bought several hundred. Later PPU recalled all their 6.5 Grendel ammo. I decided to keep my LRP ammo as I had shot some out of every lot and it was gtg in my firearms. The quality of the brass varied significantly from lot to lot with the PPU LRP brass. Early lots were good for a few reloads with moderate charges before primer pockets got to loose. My later lots have been better and the primer pockets fit better using S&B large rifle primers and don’t seem to loosen as quick. With the price of components I see no reason to fire form 7.62x39 brass to 6.5 Grendel. I have done it but results very depending on the brand of brass 7.62x39. Some x39 brass primer pockets get loose after only a couple of reloads. Starline 6.5 Grendel Brass is getting good reviews. I still have hundreds of Hornady, Lapua and PPU 6.5 Grendel brass. If I needed brass I would try Starline. AAC is going to release 6.5 Grendel ammo soon and hopefully it will have good quality small rifle primer brass. |

I have to imagine this significantly affects accuracy at distance. Does anyone have any suggestions or insight? I haven’t had any polymer tips get damage during chambering with any of my five 6.5 Grendel AR-15’s or Cz 527 American 6.5 Grendel bolt action. All my AR-15’s have M-4 style feed ramps that are well blended into the receiver. Some 6.5 Grendel magazines need the feed lips tweaked so the cartridge nose is raised to improve feeding. This is a fairly common with the older original C Products and ASC 6.5 Grendel mags. I use needle nose pliers to slightly bend a faulty mag feed lip so the cartridge is positioned to match a good functioning mag. |
| I have around thirty AR-15 magazines for my 6.5 Grendel firearms. I use the medium capacity mags the most but all my mags function. I have two of the twenty round CPD Duramag which have been reliable and a handy size. I have about a dozen seventeen round E-Lander mags which I like and frequently use. I have several early C Products and ASC mags with capacities from 10, 15 and 25 rounds. As I get older I don’t use the high capacity mags as often, no run and gun games for this old guy. |

Starline brass came in, 100% brand new. I was pleasantly surprised when I resized them, (they came loose packed in a bag, so they automatically needed resizing), and every single one measured 1/0th below max trim. Only brass I ever had new before was Winchester, and they ALWAYS needed trimming right out the door. I used some load data from Hodgdon's site with TAC, and now have 40 testers in 4 different loads with the 123gr Hornaday ELD bullet. Problem NOW...is it will be some time before these get tested, but hey, I made them. |
