Hey everyone, first time posting. Anyone here have a rifle they have painted to blend in with the Appalachians? Looking for ideas.

You're a bit to the west of the Appalachians, no?

It's a orange plastic net used for shipping that I got from work, can't remember if it was from a large motor or something like that.  My friend wanted urban colors and I couldn't find flat gray so I used Rust-oleum primer, lite and dark gray.  Blue was Krylon fusion.  The pic wasn't the finished pic, I went over the whole thing with camo black to wash out most of the blue.  Thanks

Post up a pic?

If you could do a detailed write up on this, maybe it's own thread it would be greatly appreciated. I can not picture how you got the layers like that. I like it a lot.

Multicam works well yr round in the Appalachain mtns. I live right smack dab in the middle of the Smoky mtns, backed up the AT(trail).

But these 2 are mostly Gunskins with a bit of hydrodip thrown in. Gunskins also makes several versions of Realtree-sh type patterns. Thats pretty hard to paint tho.

I did paint this SL hand guard tho. Used a Primary Arms template. Worth every penny, compared to making your own.

All Rust-Oleum; Khaki base coat and then large areas of Earth Brown. Deep Forest Green and Army Green over that. I did some fast passes about 16"-18" for really-really fine speckles with the three colors.
I used a large piece of cardboard with 3 different size holes for spotting some areas.

Fixed that awful color fill.

Actually I'm on the east coast, just never got around to updating it. And thanks for the suggestion. I had already planned on using krylon camo and since the only store in the area had just three colors (khaki, olive, brown) that's what I ended up using.

Here's the before:

And here's the finished product:

I was considering krylon-ing my next ULW build, but I don't want to add unnecessary weight.  So I think I'll spray my tax-deductible M4 clone instead once that's done.

Thinking about doing a camo paint job based in grey with white and black accents over that.  I guess that describes Urban?  Anyways what would I use for the Grey?  Primer?  I've not seen any flat grey at the stores?

PS  Anyone done this scheme on their AR?

My winter gun was close to that before I did the over white spray. I'll post some pics of it later, I may actually do another gun like that and skip the winter white because it looked so cool

Just for the hell of it. Nothing fancy just a good in the field spray paint job. I was thinking of using panty hose stretched under the Tango Down optic cover for a makeshift ARD since they don't make one that I know of for a H1/T1. Pretty pointless maybe since I don't have a can... Yet.

Lots of inspiration in here!

Never thought of painting one brown? but that thing is beautiful. Anyone know what color that is in the top picture?

Just picked up another stipped lower today, perfect candidate for some krylon.

Can someone provide a quality  "How to" link? Thanks!
