What are yall using? Thinking LPVO or dot but wonder how accurate these are and if a LPVO would be kinda a waste . |

I find the TA44 1.5x mini ACOGs to be a great optic- essentially a much updated version of the original "soda straw" A1 optic, compact, lightweight, bombproof, good glass, and illuminated reticle. I also find the 1.5x mag to be "just enough" to get you out a bit while still having a good field of view and red dot like handling. Sven Manticore Arms |

I have a Nightforce NX8 on my AUG. I've been surprised how accurate the rifle is, even if it's a little difficult to shoot well due to the trigger. I have LPVO on my of my rifles, and have no complaints on using the NX8 on the AUG. I didn't choose the NX8 specifically for the AUG- when I got the rifle I had this optic sitting in a mount, not attached to any other rifle. If I hadn't had a "spare" optic, I'd look real hard at a TA01 or TA11 just due to the size and weight. |

Just got my A3M2, I know Steyr is switching over from 1:9 to 1:7 barrels and mine came with the 1:7 so, Win. Put an orphan PA 1x prism on it to get some rounds through it. Debating on a 1.5 ACOG or the 3x compact version (TA 50C) with Horseshoe reticle. Anyone have any time behind the 3x24 ACOG? Not interested in the TA 33 3X. |

I ordered mine thru Atlantic, They advertise them as 1:9 but mine and a friend who ordered a couple days after me both got 1:7 barrels. I think nobody at Atlantic is actually opening the new batch and verifiying. Optics wise, I played around with my TA31 and TA44. Like Swen, I'm going to go with the TA44. I did notice that the Steyr rail is slightly undersized. My TA51 mount on the TA31 wouldn't get tight enough on the rail. I have a LaRue on the TA44 and it was also a little lose as I took it off an AR pistol I had it on. Thank Gawd the LaRue is adjustable for tension. Could just be tolerance stacking on either end of the spectrum but, I think the AUG rail is undersized a couple thousands of an inch.... YMMV. |

TA24 1-4 on mine in a Warn mount. Attached File A ACOG would probably be better, but if I had one it would be on a AR. |

I just bought a cheap LPVO for my A3 M1 and it's good. I do love the ACOG, but its limited tritium life makes me prefer batteries. I can always stock up on batteries to last me a lifetime. I don't want to have to send in my ACOG in 15 years because the tritium dimmed. Tritium dimming makes it a poor choice for a long term SHTF optic. The military will just replace old ACOGs; they have that kind of logistical support. Us civilians don't. I'm saving up for a Trijicon SCO. |

Tried a bunch of stuff. AUG is already a heavy bitch, so LPVO is out. With the shape of the grip, too much weight tweaks my wrist just wrong. Red dot and magnifier works, you can actually get the magnifier back far enough to not have eye relief issues. However, since eye relief isn’t a problem, and magnifiers just kinda suck, it’s the perfect fit for a TA31, either the A4 RCO for the 20” barrel, or if you can find one, an ACSS Aurora for a 16.” Did a little redneck fix for the A3M1 extended rail. Any downward pressure would noticeably tilt the cantilevered section of rail, right where the ACOG sits. Was my only concern about using that optic, took three pieces of duct tape to shim it for a perfect fit. As they say, you can fix anything with duct tape. |

I looked up your recommendation . I wish it was offered in a few different styles retina.. I’ll admit I haven’t looked through this style semi circle dot. But I normally don't care for them. I like an unobstructed view of my target. A 2moa dot , mini cross hairs , or basic Acog chevron . Love the size and weight. I have just a basic AimPoint Pro on mine. 1.5 would be nice. I keep reading about AUG inaccuracy in this forum. I've been shooting these guns since 1990 and have yet to own or shoot one that didn't have remarkable mechanical accuracy. People struggle with the trigger. That's all. Any AUG is worthy of an ACOG or 1-6 / 1-8 or even 1-10 LPVO. ETA: my AUG has a 4x32 ACOG. |

I'm saving up for a Trijicon SCO. Lithium batteries have a storage life of 5 to 10 years (typically).  Also, batteries are heavy and electronics are susceptible to EMP damage. To paraphrase Garand Thumb: "ACOGs, they're powered by the freaking sun, dude!" |
