Got to take the FAL out today. Lots of fun. Grip angled back a bit too much. Is it possible to obtain a grip that is better ergonomically? Searching and seems like the SAW grip is a decent fit, but are any alterations required or plug and play? Also seems like no one has the SAW grip in stock. |

I use the SAW grip. Minimi, CAL, and FNC were all designed to use the exact same grip attachment as the FAL, so they are interchangeable without modification. Some early Minimi examples can be seen with the FAL grip. I like the SAW grip. The angle of the typical plastic FAL grip, IIRC, was designed to place less strain on the wrist when launching grenades, but I don't know for certain the veracity of that. The wooden grips that preceded the plastic ones had a less steep angle. |

Not sure how it compares, but FAB Defense makes a FAL grip. I was wondering about 3D printing the other day. I wonder if a plastic version of the early style grip could be 3D printed (the originals were only made out of wood). |

20+ years ago I wanted to like the Ergo Grip, but it forced my firing hand down farther than I like. I tried the SAW grip and it was an improvement but I hated the look. It reminded me of when someone puts an AR grip on an AK. Just looked out of place. I eventually just got used to the angle of the traditional FAL grip, and still use one to this day. |

I was running a (tapco? can't remember where I got it from, around 2001) quad rail until I saw the AIM mlok handguard set last year. lost about two pounds off the front of the rifle between the heavy rail, all the rail mount crap I had on it, and the rail covers. now I just need to get a three slot rail section back on it for the light and I'm done. pardon the fudd scope, bought it 15 years before I got into assembling ars and I had no idea what the hell I was doing. it's going to get a MUCH lighter 1-4 lpvo soon.  CAI FrankenFAL, inch pattern Australian l1a1 kit but the receiver takes metric mags. sounds nice until you try finding grips or stocks. metric is different from inch. wish someone would make made in usa inch pattern furniture. one of these days I will buy a nicer FAL. |
