They just emailed me back and told me the following....
We sell a similar general purpose carbide insert (3289A86) for $8.50 each or $7.22 each when you purchase 10. The difference is the ANSI code is now TP-41 (vs. TPGB-2.51E) and the material is now grade C-5 (vs. C-2). |

Bringing back an old thread...
Based on some info in this and another ARF thread, I got these inserts from Amazon. Except for the coating (and I can't speak to quality, cut quality, or longevity), these sitting on top of and side by side the ones that Ballistic Tools sells, are "identical". for ~~$1/ea, I was willing to risk it to try them (I didn't go with the cheapest vendor on Amazon, but scrolled down to get one with 100% feedback). I need to get one installed and try it. YMMV

If you search for TCMT110204 VP15TF on eBay, you can find Mitsubishi branded inserts for ~~$2/ea in 10 piece packages from US based vendors. I have gotten some of them and use them. Seem to work well so far. If you want to take the chance, you can order from china vendors, and they are ridiculously cheap (like $1/ea). |

The blade on my RT1500 has 30k on it right now and I've got no plans to change it any time soon (it hasn't been rotated to the 2nd or 3rd side, either). Still cuts clean. |
