I’m thinking about picking up a Rem700 LTR in 223.  I have a nice stick on Barnes 70 grain TSX and want to know if anyone has any experience with comb?

I've never had a rifle that wouldn't shoot a TSX well, but YMMV.

What's the twist? I think those do best in a pretty fast twist because of how long they are so hopefully someone knows. I think those old remingtons were mostly 1:9 but I am not sure.

Twist rate in the LTRi is 1/9.  But it’s a 20” barrel so I hope this helps to stabilize the bullet.

I have a 16" 1:9 twist AR barrel that will not stabilize a 70gr TSX.  They keyhole badly.  Some hit sideways, some miss the target completely.  20" might raise velocity enough to fix that.  The 70gr is laser accurate with 1:8.  The 62gr TSX will work for sure as I get good accuracy from that 1:9 with it.  1:8 would be a better choice even for a 20" barrel, if it is available.

I love TSX.  I use some form of TSX or TTSX in all my hunting rifle calibers from .223 all the way to 6mm, 7mm and various .30 cal including .300 Weatherby Magnum.  They need velocity to stabilize and for terminal ballistics.
