[Last Edit: Blowout]
Anyone using this powder for 50-55gr FMJ in 223? I came across a 8lb jug and wondering if I should work up some loads or pass on it. Never used it...

I've got R15 and Norma 203B for 77gr.

Yup. Great powder for 55 gr. 24.5 gr or so  if I remember correctly.

If it’s a good deal, go for it. Good powder for lots of things

I've used benchmark for 52,53,55gr bullets with very good success. Hornady 52gr eldm's over benchmark turn one of my 223 bolt guns in to a lazer gun.

24.7 grns with a hornady vmax 55 gr bullet is what I came up with as a hornady tap copy. It shoots lights out in my BCM barrels.

I'll work up a ladder with Hornady 55gr FMJ. I bought 6k several years ago and haven't been able to find an acceptable load for it.

For me....Benchmark is my substitute for H322...paired with some Sierra 52gr SMK....this a one hole making load WW brass and Fed 205M.  Never did much for me in the 308.
I am sure that it would work with other mid weight 223 bullets.

I shoot benchmark for everything from 50gr v max to 77 SMK’s. It’s great powder. 26gr for the 50v max and 22gr for the 77’s. Work up to both.

Thanks for the load information. I'm going to also try this powder with 50gr frangible and see what kind of accuracy it produces. IMR4895 works decently, but it's a heavily compressed load.

8lb jug sitting on the workbench now....

Curious what the 77gr SMK velocity is and also the barrel length?

I love Benchmark, I'm getting 2430 out of my 10.5 and 2710 out of my 20"

Last time I shot this thru my 18” tube, I got 2563fps. It’s pretty slow, but pretty accurate for me.

It is a great .223 powder.  If the price is good I would not pass it up.

Benchmark and 2230 are my favorite 55gr or similar powders.
