It stays up/open after you press it up to load a shell.  Theoretically could/should make loading the tube easier/faster.

I've got one headed to C-Rums to get welded, and then it is getting installed.  It only took one time (about 8 years ago) to rip my thumbnail off at a match....I learned my lesson.

How long ago? I have yet to see it in stock anywhere. I have emailed them to see if it is in stock.

I did pick up 3 boxes of the Hornady Critical Defense.

ETA: just got a response from them……

“Good afternoon and thanks for reaching out to us! We do not have that item available on our website at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you have a great day!”

Since they got back with me so quick, I’ll keep them in mind the next time ordering something.

It's a little easier to twin or quad load with it as it sits up out of the way.

A lot of people install it because they think the standard lifter pinches their thumb...which it don't if you use good technique. Just bend the joint on your thumb closest to the end when you go to pull your thumb out of the magazine tube and it will trap the lifter against the bolt and prevent any pinching.

I would say the biggest advantage is having the lifter out of the way in case the shell doesn’t get caught by the shell catch. Instead of the shell popping out on top of the lifter and preventing you from loading any further, the shell would just pop out on the ground (I assume you’d notice it didn’t catch before that happened). Tim with tactical response did this on camera, and he’s a pretty seasoned shotgun user. Technique gets face fucked by Murphy every once in a while. Pro lifter has a bunch of pros and not a single con that I can think of.

Well, my A300 is down. Went out to shoot today to test some ammo and play around with some light loads to see what it would cycle. Ended up with a dead trigger after 36rds. Hammer is cocked but the trigger is locked up and the safety can't be moved. I'll have to do some research so see what is going on and if my problem is related to the dead trigger issue some A300 field guns have had.

I was shooting some crappy 3/4oz reloads with poor crimps and thought maybe a bb got lodged in the trigger pack but I'm not sure. I pulled the trigger pack out and really can't see anything without taking it apart farther.

Not really confidence inspiring when I'm used to the reliability of my M2s

ETA. It did cycle the 15 1300fps 3/4oz loads I fired through it although ejection was weak. The low recoil fiocchi 1oz defense dynamics slugs I tried had weak ejection also and would jam if I held the gun loosely so those are out for serious work.

That appears to be what my gun did. I could pull the trigger forward to reset it then when I dry fired the gun and cycled the action the trigger stuck back again. I pulled the trigger group out and then it started working and I could not see anything wrong so I put the gun back together, put some snap caps in and dry fired it about 25 times without any issues.

I dont' know what to say. Maybe a BB did get down in there and it happened to fall out but I did not see a BB laying on the bench anywhere. Needless to say I'm pretty disappointed that I put over 100rds of expensive buckshot and slugs through the gun giving it a shake down and now I'm back to square one with trusting it but at least it happened on the range. I'm going to have a bunch of spare time  in the next few days so I might take the gun back out and run a hundred rounds or so of target loads through it and see what happens.

ETA. Found the problem. The gun started acting up again so I took it apart and removed the hammer and struts and a chewed up BB fell out of the bottom of the trigger group. I was wondering if that was the problem because years ago I had a BB that had fallen into the trigger group take a Benelli M2 out of service briefly, although with that gun I hand cycled the action a bunch of times until it started working then I found the sheared off BB when I stripped it down that night for cleaning.

I wasn't surprised that a BB got to where it wasn't supposed to be. I was getting the loader adjusted for the new load and quite a few of the crimps were poor enough that BBs would fall out. I'm glad I burned through part of the box dinking around at home instead of at a clays course.

I can only speak to the Nordic clamps since that's what's on my 1301 Tac Gen 1. They don't move unless you put them on incorrectly. I bought their MXT extension kit when they first came out. The tube (the cover on the new version) is machined on two different planes specifically to hold the clamp in place. I've run my gun for over 8 years and the clamp only moves if I remove it.

For those who have put QD sockets on the side of the stock, regardless of brand, how are they holding up? Is there any noticeable signs of weakness, cracking, etc around the socket? My concern is the amount of stress a sling would impart to that area. The swivel popping out of the socket is one thing. The stock breaking is quite a bit different.

I took it out last night and for some reason I could not load more than 3 shells into the magazine before the lift gate would lock in place and not allow me to load. I tried over 10 times and not once would it let me load more than 3 shells. Any ideas? I got frustrated, and it was will over 100 deg at 9pm still, so I said fuck it and tool my ball Beretta home.

Next time that happens slightly press the bolt release and see if that allows the lift gate to move down for loading.

I've seen a few Beretta guns (the similar 1301)  that would occasionally let the lift gate move down just far enough for the shell latch to wedge under the lift gate and hang it up (Loose tolerances and flexing polymer was the cause, there are fixes for the issue)

Whipped up a sling mount out of 550 cord. Put a little braided tail end on it to get the buckle out past the hot button. Scavenged the buckle off of an old single point bungee sling that I had laying around. Stock mount is an old stock cuff. This is temporary in my mind until an aftermarket forend is developed. It will work for now.

Pretty much a week now and no real world examples? That doesn't give one a feeling of confidence, does it? That and a new discussion on QD failures in the "AR Discussions" forum has settled my mind on just relying on the old hard attach sling swivel studs like I use on my ARs. They're just there, they do their thing very well, they don't fail and I don't even give them a second thought. Which is the way it should be. Some BFG sling attachment hardware, a VTAC sling and I'll be in business.

If anyone is interested Limbsaver makes a butt pad that fits that is suppose to reduce recoil. I haven’t tried it yet but the wife unit asked me to do something about it the last time at the range.

Limbsaver 10817, it’ll add about 3/8” LOP.

How does the A300 do with rifled slugs compared to the 1301? I’m using Federal LE slugs and they lead like crazy after 25rds. Basically coats the bore around the gas ports. My Benelli M4 doesn’t lead this bad, so maybe it’s just the 1301 bore or system. Chore boy copper pads do a great job removing it, but still a pain.

I get a ton of fowling from the chamber to about halfway to the ports, worse then any shotgun I've ever had. I don't think it was lead though, thinking plastic from the flight control wads. Only way I could get it removed was to dowse it with CLP and scrub like hell with a 10ga brush followed by a wet mop.

So after living with the sling mount at the toe of the stock, I've come to know that it sucks.
Installed the Grovetech.

Much more happy, and the gun rides like an AR with the sling.

I bought the grovtec QD socket and then upon unboxing it realized it's not rotation limited.  I immediately turned around and bought the Noveske QD flush fit which is rotation limited.  Other than the super hard thread locker that was pre-applied to the threads the install was fine. I'm not at all worried about the stock being weaker, and with the sharp teeth/corners on the Noveske's nut (plus loctite) I don't think it will be going anywhere.

Shot my new Beretta A300 ultima patrol.
Federal Flite Control, and Nobel reduced recoil 9 pellet buck for patterning. 10 rounds of each.
Also ran a box of 25 #8 skeet loads.

It's an extremely soft shooting shotgun, and patterns well with the Flite Control at 18 yards.

The Nobel stuff definitely opened wider at the same distance.

At 50 yards, the Nobel's spread was torso sized, while the federal stayed tighter.... Perhaps the size of a basketball.
It cycled very smooth, not a hitch thru the 45 shells.
I'm liking it very much.
