I just bought a Marlin 1895 SBL and picked up my SilencerCo Hybrid 46M today... bought a set of RCBS 45-70 steel dies at Cabela's too.

Of the available powders, what should I start with?

TAC
WIN748
VARGET
WC844
WC843
WC847
AA11FS

Will be using Starline Brass and GINEX LRP (maybe dip into my CCI #34 stash if that is recommended over the GINEX).

I'm planning to run down some Hornady Sub-x 410 gr and the next time American Reloading has some 300 gr JHP I'm going hog wild on that.

I'll add, I see that you can get bulk Hornady 45 Cal 300gr HP SOCOM for $310/k now. Is the something I should FO hard on? I wanted to load for 458 SOCOM one day too.

Go look at the Hodgdon Reloading Data on like and look for yourself to cross check potential matches of what you have on hand.

Well thanks. I was asking for first-hand experience and recommendations, not to be pointed to reloading manuals, which I have in abundance.

I have a buddy with a Marlin, we use H-4895 for cast and jacketed loads.

One word of advice, work up your loads slowly as we reached our recoil tolerance before the top listed loads.

Did you shoot these suppressed or with a MB? I'm hoping that the can will tame this round sufficiently I can work up clear to the top.

If using Once-Fired Brass, are there any makes I should avoid? Looks like the guy I was going to buy some Starline from welched on me so starting over.

I use once fired Hornady with lead 340 grain bullets with no issues- they ain't that short.

I've never loaded 410 brain bullets, but I have loaded 405 grain LFP's using Varget.

My load was 46.3 Varget, Win LRP, Starline brass, COAL 2.535" out of an 1895 Guide Gun.

Thanks for that! What velocity did you clock with that load?

@PointBlank82

Sorry- no idea of the actual velocity, but they had a decent thump and were fairly accurate from the Guide Gun- 1.75-2.0" at 75 yards- as long as I did my part.

Well I guess I need to add in some pistol powders to the list too. Didn't know people loaded subs with Unique and Titegroup.

How dirty do those run and is it easy to end up with squib loads? Do you use a filler of some sort like corn grits to keep all the powder near the primer? If so, not sure I'd want that getting into a sealed suppressor.
