The relevant stickies on the top of the page are from 2017.

The DVR that we have attached to 8 cameras (Lorex aka FLIR) died.  New ones are not cheap and don't get good reviews.  I am considering a dedicated PC-based DVR.

A friend recommended Blue Iris.  I run an unraid server but I'd likely want something stand-alone, that can record 8 4k cameras 24/7, handle AI-driven motion detection, and then back up the data periodically to the unraid server.

Not sure where to start.  Comments welcome.  Thanks.

Not sure on the features anymore and the setup is advanced but I think Milestone offers a free 8 camera version.
May want to check it out.
