Are the dies threaded 5/8-24? I think the M dies would fit it.

From left, 22 LR case that been wet tumbled to remove old primer compound and to clean case.

22 LR case that was annealed, lubed and run through the derimmer die. Then case cleaned to remove lube.

Raw core that has been cut. It weighs more than you want and the diameter is slightly large. Lubed and then run through next die.

Swaged core from the core forming die which bled off excessive lead so core weights are consistent and diameter is small enough to fit in derimmed case.
Cores must be cleaned of lube also.

Core is seated in case using core seat die. A little hard to see lead in bottom of jacket.

Core is then placed in the nose forming die which had a small rod that ejects bullet. So all bullets are formed with a hollow point.
I have a nose forming die to close the tip on "order".

Side view of 55 gr bullet. The 62 gr bullets look exactly the same, it's just there is more lead in jacket.

eta, to fix typos.

I'll have to check it
Next time I am at the location where the swager is in storage, I will take photos of it

Was planning on Corbin for dies.  Who are the other options for dies if they close shop?

Sad to hear that he passed.

Are you able to tell anything bout the uniformity of the jacket thickness or concentricity of the finished bullet?  Are these properties repeatable?

The ultimate arbiter would be live fire accuracy.  Are they accurate at 100 yards?  Do they remain accurate at 300 or 600 yards??

The site is still live.  I don't think Corbin was ever a "one man operation,"  The page with Dave's bio was last modified in November, 2020, which doesn't say anything about whether Dave is still with us.  But the main page was updated on June 18, 2022, and you'd think they'd make note of their founder's passing on the home page...

I'm thinking that "Dave is gone" is a rumor, not necessarily true.

As I read it, the death referred to the NALAN maker, not Corbin.

1. I've done that by sorting cases to headstamp, could also trim jackets to same length, but haven't tried that yet.

Various brands of cases use different alloy and weigh different. Instructions said sort headstamps for best result, so I did.

2. Haven't loaded or shot them yet.

After making 55 gr bullets. I decided I wanted to make 62 gr bullets instead.

62 grs is as heavy as you can go with 22 LR cases made into jackets.

I like 62 gr FMJ's better than 55 gr FMJ's, so that was my choice.

Unfortunately other projects have occupied my reloading time and I haven't gotten back to swaging since last March.

Because I was curious, I looked into the SAAMI specs for other ".22 rimfire" cartridges.  There are .22 Winchester Rimfire, and .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire...but their outside diameters are both 0.242" versus 0.227" for the .22LR.

I wonder if that would make a difference to the jacket forming dies.  Just a thought; if you wanted to make heavier/longer bullets from rimfire brass, you'd need to start with longer brass.  If it didn't mean buying different forming dies, that might be a thing.

If you had a derimming die for 22 mag cases, sure.

But unless you special order dies for 22 mag cases, the dies I have work with 22LR cases.

Also at times you can buy 22LR fired cases, which I have done. You need a lot of 22 LR cases to form jackets with.

Finding enough 22 mag cases would become an issue.

I have read where 22 mag cases were used to form 6mm bullets. But again, case availability...

How big/long of a bullet can you swage with it?

Rats.  It was probably a good idea to make the hot rod rimfire cartridges too big to fit in potentially ancient .22LR chambers.  But still…. Ah well.

Had  to check, Ive known Dave for a lot of years. Built a few spreadsheets for him on PSI settings on the small hydro press.

Now I get to get my area cleaned up to start swaging again. Thinking of starting up my bullet business again.

finished with gunsmith school in 1991, been doing it since (the shop opened up in 92). took up swaging in 02. So its been a few years.

Also have a cad cam deg AAS from 94 and a Mechatronics AAS I just finished up. And work in IT (25 years). So a varied background.

not bad for a 53 year old.

I was just about to ring their number to see if the rumor was true. Thanks for posting this and very sorry to hear about his wife.
