I know there is a 9mm kit for the Steyr AUG, but what other bullpup 9mm carbines or SBRs are out there? |
|
Other than the now out of production Tavor 9mm kits, there aren't really any off the shelf bullpup 9mm options. Matador Arms is supposed to have one coming out fairly soon based off their MAT9 uppers and a new lower they are brining out. It is certainly something I am personally interested as a project, especially a much litghter and more compact one based on it be 9mm, I just have to pitch the concept to the right company and get them onboard with the idea. I think there definitely is a market for a bespoke 9mm bullpup instead of conversion of existing rifle caliber bullpups. Sven Manticore Arms |

CZ still sells the Scorpion bullpup kit, don't they? https://shop.cz-usa.com/40600.html HTA also makes bullpup shells for HiPoint carbines. The weakness there is mag capacity. I want to see a slick, light, delayed blowback, integrally suppressed concept with something like scorpion mags. |

LOL, I mean, well there is that...how did I forget about it, I designed the damned thing! ![]() (Last I knew they were out of them, but maybe they found a few more) Sven Manticore Arms |

There’s the 9mm conversion kit for the Aug as well, though they are another $800 on top of a $1600+ rifle. ![]() That was the one thing MSAR had talked about that I was interested in, their pistol-cal Aug clone. Signed up on one of the preorder lists back in ancient times. I’d agree that a market exists for a nice purpose-built PCC bullpup. My mental process had a design starting from a stock that could accommodate a longer front-to-back mag for 5.7/.30C then back the design into pistol calibers. Should give you the space for the standard 9/40/45/10 mags instead of trying to scale a pistol-mag gun up. I had originally thought short stroke gas piston across the board but I wonder how roller-delayed would work with 5.7/.30C. I mean, it works from 9mm up to .308, so those little guys should be easy-peasy. ![]() It’d probably end up a lot like if a Kuna and a VHS-2 had a baby. |

Steyr made a bunch of 9mm Augs, you can find them on gundeals for sub $1700, however they are fpr the MP88 magazine which are super hard to find, afaik. |

I've always kind of wanted an FN P90 in 9mm... or literally anything but 5.7... not because the cartridge is bad, just to have a cheaper option. I wonder how hard it would be to make a 9mm magazine, bolt, and barrel for the P90? Its already a blowback platform more or less, and the barrel can be removed and replaced by the end user with a set of slim wrenches. Not exactly as drop in as the newer AUG systems but not completely out of the question. My assumption has always been it would be easier for a small manufacturer to bring a conversion kit to the market rather than a complete firearm. Or at least a way to cut down on their outlay for fabrication / plastic molds / etc. We already have things like the Scorpion conversion as well as the Meta Tactical... thing... and the Hightower Hi Point carbine kit. ... and whatever happened with that Stribog 9mm bullpup kit? |

The p90 magazine design requires a straight wall case. I hate 5.7 but I love the p90. I would take a p90 in 40 or 45 or 10 mm or even 380 auto. Before you laugh about the 380 consider the possibility of a 40rd dedicated full-time suppressed setup and the fact that the 380 is natively subsonic. |

There was something for the Stribog by JTAC Industries(TFB article). ![]() But that is the last I remember seeing anything about it. |

That is a curious way to do a conversion. I had some Colt mag Stribog lowers worked up long before anyone else, so I already have the geometry for the interface and the lower. Already did the CZ bullpup lower, so I could pretty readily do a bullpup lower for the Stribog based on that experience. I will have to take a look at that when I have some spare time (spare time...hahaha!) Sven Manticore Arms |

| I think the problem with that conversion is the lack any space forward of the trigger, and you’ll probably need someplace for at least a foregrip, or a forend to hold onto. The photo looks to be of a 8” Stribog with a rail extension. You’d probably need a longer barrel and forend, or a large diameter forend to tuck a suppressor with the factory 8” barrel. I think the Scorpion conversion is for the 16” carbine, and the AUG and Tavor conversions are also 16” barrels. I don’t think you need all 16”, but probably a 10-12” barrel at least. |

Someone please explain this fascination with the X95 style forward magazine release...are you guys all just running your mags to empty, then dumping them on the deck while you reload? Does no one do administrative reloads to keep their mags topped off, and retain their partially or completely empty mags? Sven Manticore Arms |

I eventually shoot all my toys in matches, and a lot of matches don't want you dropping hot mags on the ground. The local ones i shoot start with 10rd to force a reload. With a bullpup that's a handicap vs an AR where you can be dropping the mag without changing grip while reaching for the reload. Running my RFB i do the FAL move, smacking the lever with the fresh mag. Still requires counting rounds or being a little slower on the reload. |

Mags should be changed when you are behind cover or otherwise administratively. If you go to slidelock in a firefight you have fucked up and are probably fucked. Its incredibly improbable that a 2 second vs 3 second reload will be the difference between life and death in any full LARP scenarios. |
