I'm thinking of buying a new manufacturer M1 Carbine. What are your recommendations? |

New "Inland" isn't dimensionally correct in the bolt. They screwed up their measurements. Fulton's are beautiful, but just buy a GI one, an early Universal, or a Plainfield, OP. Got a Saginaw a few months ago for $500 at a show. Beat up stock, mixmaster, but it runs. |

| I know a lot folks on here don't like them but check out Royal Tiger Imports. They have a bunch of USGI carbines they got from Africa & they've been doing email specials lately for different makers for $1,000. They are import marked and will have late war features but they are probably the best deal going outside of buying off gunbroker & they acceptt C&R licenses. |

The problem with RT is that they misrepresent them in their grading system. I bought a C grade carbine from them, and it was horrendous. No rifling, broken stock, etc. I would never buy anything under a grade B. |

If you don't want a chrome lined barrel you can get it right away. It can take 4-5 months for them to do a new 1. My 2nd 1 I bought new was during the Covid crap, it took 8 months. It'll be worth the wait. |

I tried a JRA Carbine receiver built by Fulton and it was just out of spec enough where I ended up having Fulton replace the JRA receiver with one of theirs. I need to finish filing down the front sight for zero. I took a dive back into film photography this year and never seem to get it to the range |

That's where I got the IBM and the import Mark is barely visible. One suggestion is if you do buy from them pay the extra $100 or $200 for the hand select. My wife's shoots good and looks good I might have been able to find one cheap or someplace else but I wanted an IBM and not any other make. |

But I've bought two working GI carbines for $500 at shows, one several years back as a punter, and then recently as a dealer from a punter. |
