I'm primarily a Kershaw assisted folder kind of guy. Have a whole box of them. I mostly gift them to my kids, one or more for every birthday/Christmas.
I've been looking at breaking out from the mold and I'm looking for suggestions for sub $100 folders, models/brands. Civivi is one name I've seen. Opinions? Other brands? |

This super cheap knife (as in $8.97 cheap) works for me when I can't carry an auto. Husky folding knife at Home Depot
I have a bad habit of "donating" them to TSA at airports so I like a really, really cheap knife when I travel. |

The cheapest best folder is a RAT 1. The best value is a Spyderco Endura.

Attached File HF's newest release. D2 steel, carbon fiber inlay G10 scales, ceramic bearings, and a lifetime warranty for $40. I had a coupon for 20% off Icon, so I got it for about $33. Not my fav, but can't argue about the price. |

If you can find one cheap, the Schrade 306 ultraglide is a nice blade, it's chinesium of course, but mine has been great, 9cr18mov, flat grind but with seriously thick spine, it's got some heft to it. Ball bearing pivot with a flipper and the action is glassy smooth and has a nice tight lockup. My only gripe is the scales are too smooth, needs some checkering.
Got mine a few years ago at SMKW when they had a sale and were selling Schrade dirt cheap, 8 bucks is what I paid, now they are going for 35-45 bucks, not sure i'd pay that much for it but if you can find it for under 30 it's a great everyday blade. Chicago Knife Works sells them at about 28 bucks looks like, but I just checked and they're OOS right now. |

No longer available unless you can find one online somewhere but the Kershaw Scamp was a $20 knife when I got mine. Liked it so much I bought a second and tossed it into the drawer for a backup. Yeah, it was Chinese made but the blade takes a edge well and lasts a while between sharpenings.

Really CHEAP folder? Tractor supply had some. Cold steel folders for under $10. I grabbed them all to give as gifts! The KUDU LITE model…wicked sharp. I’m just keeping one as a truck knife. I like knives of all shapes sizes and quality but cheap and good is hard to pass up!

I use the Kabar Dozier folders as cheap travel knives. Throw one in checked bag or mail to the destination. They used to be even cheaper but inflation…
I keep a SOG Autoclip at my sisters for when I’m there. I like lockbacks for cheap knives as I’ve seen cheap liner and frame locks fail. They also tend to be lighter because they’re liner-less with FRN handles. Some of the Byrd line from Spyderco is nice too. |
