Killer deal on a very cool little back pack. $12 for members. Membership can be done on a trial basis for free shipping. NOS surplus. Mine is stamped 1999. I believe it’s designed for the Gustav recoilless rifle. This is not a conventional pack. More like an overbuilt drawstring laundry bag with shoulder straps and a detachable cap. Top quality and durable material. Seems highly water resistant. I didn’t try because I don’t want to wash away the smell. Drain hole in the base. There are zippers along the outside rear where I believe rocket pouches attach. I can’t find those. If you can, please tell me. There are some of the common barbed quick release clips on the bottom where the lid can be stowed. 3/4” or 19mm straps. Or maybe it’s for a butt pack? The straps are equidistant from centerline on the lid about 4” apart, but located further out at the base. So I’m not sure. It has one full depth compartment and a thin fabric pocket about 12” deep. Drawstring bag is about 22” deep not counting the thin drawstring gather topper. The lid adds about 9”. Thickly padded shoulder straps with hip belt. Made to carry lots of weight comfortably. This is my favorite milsurp purchase ever. It smells so freaking good. All the best of the preservative, insecticide or whatever and none of the damp, musty stink. The smell alone makes it a worthwhile purchase. Sorry I didn’t post pics of the bag itself. The 40s are hard to find cheap surplus storage for. This is the best one I’ve found. I crammed them in so that the rounds are held in tightly. If you don’t already know, Steyr waffle mags can spray rounds when dropped or handled roughly. This seems to hold well enough. Oops. I can’t count. Obviously that smaller pouch is holding six 30 rounders. Here’s the bag with a 20 inch airsoft AUG. It’s pretty much perfect for stowing it broken down with the barrel wrapped in some padding. Attached File |

Those are Danish PLCE pouches. They copied the British PLCE system, exactly for the most part. I think they even used the same manufacturer from what I can tell. You can mix and match them with British PLCE gear and make a full set of belt kit. There are other Danish pouches out there in that camo too - along with harnesses, packs, etc. That top pouch is their 'LMG pouch' - it's set up to carry linked ammo for their belt fed guns. The bottom pouch is a 'Utility pouch' - though technically it's one of the 'Canteen (or water?) pouch' - though the British system kinda uses those pouches interchangeable. They are almost the same pouch. The British usually use a couple of them in back instead of the US style buttpacks, and two more next to those with canteens in them. PLCE pouches are really well made for surplus gear. You should piece together a full set of belt kit. It's a cool camo, and most of the danish PLCE stuff is brand new. The only Danish pieces I haven't seen for sale here in the US are the PLCE magazine pouches. If you can't find the belts, you can just use one of the British ones, they are the same belt. |

EDIT: You could probably mod that pack into some kind of cool assault or patrol pack from the looks of it. Or just have a beater pack, give it to the kids, etc. |
Thanks. I read about the PLCE research the bag but neglected to look it up before I forgot.  The Europeans sure like their tabs. It’s so much easier to scoot stuff down the belt than with molle. Wish I knew sooner. I’ll probably never use the lockout feature on the Spanish latch. Maybe that’s for soldiers to differentiate between inert and live stuff?I have daughters that aren’t particularly interested in military surplus or tactical gear. Using different colors helps them find the right accessories. If only they appreciated the smell. |

And accessorizing is half the battle.

Cool! Glad someone else got in. I have four. Love them. Will get after one with a seam ripper soon unless I find the pouch. It’s probably bad that I signed up with SG. Worse than Varusteleka. I’m weak willed for a low price on military surplus. Almost bought a city bus off a liquidation site because it was only $400. My wife doesn’t see the stuff I pass on. Only the junk I drag in. Recently bought two rucks and a dozen sustainment pouches. ($1.59) Have probably hoarded enough milsurp type junk to fill them all up. Hopefully in a somewhat organized way. |

I was just thinking about cleaning up the bag by removing the zipper. It didn’t even occur to me to buy extra bags solely for the fabric. My wife would kill me if I broke her sewing machines. Not in love with the print but it would be nice to match. Will save some but I ordered enough pouches to complete a belt. Waiting on that and suspenders. All I could find was size large belt. I’m a little guy so hopefully it works. Guess I need to find the Danish pants so as not to clash. DK, owning a Gustav is far cooler than living in HI. I hope your plan falls through in a wonderful and happy way. Or you just smuggle it in somehow. I’ll donate a little to your defense fund if caught.
