Anyone know of a place that works on ear pro? I've got a buddy who bought used Comtacts. Went to train comms today for the first time and his mic not working (could be w3hy he got a "good deal"). He receives audio but no transmit. We can hear his PTT engage but sound after. We tried multiple mics so it appears to be the internals I guess. Figured I'd ask here in case someone has walked this walk before. Thanks! ETA: spelling |

Wires being crossed is probably the cause due to hearing the PTT engage but not picking up transmission. Also what PTT is he using? It is important that the Comtacs and PTT have the same compatible wiring. There are generally two different wiring of headsets and PTT. One is commercial and the other is NATO (.Mil uses this too). If you tried to pair a commercially wired PTT to a NATO wired PTT or vice versa, you will have the issues you mention. Also Peltor do make headsets in both types of wiring. Most of their cheaper headsets (like hearing defenders) are commercially wired. There are also adapters you can buy to use the different wirings together. |

Quoted: It’s the ptt, more than likely. He’s got wires crossed or non existent in the less expensive ones. Is it a Peltor ptt or an aftermarket? We tried both of our PTT with his rig and mine. Both work with mine, neither work with his. the PTT engages the radio, we hear that, just no voice audio from his mic. It's an aftermarket PTT from Disco32. |

His PTT works with my rig, seems like the unknown is his version of comtacs. I'll report back. thanks guys, this is helpful. |

Quoted: https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/752569O/peltor-warranty-policy.pdf Thanks, this was my first suggestion in the moment but thought I'd ask around here for some educated guidance. If we come up with no answers, definitely going to suggest this route. He confirmed he's going to try and figure out the exact Comtac model he has. i admit i am not very familiar with the different Comtac options. |

If it’s not under warranty repairs, you’re gonna have to pay. That’s the cost of having Ferrari ear pro without a government maintenance package though. |

When my comtac IIIs weren't working peltor told me to expect a minimum of $150. |
