To start, I've got an A3M1 with the factory 3x optic that I bought in 2015 or 2016. Been thinking about putting an extended rail and a dot on it. I also see that Styer has there 300blk barrels on sale for $400. Are those barrels accurate? I have never owned anything in 300blk, so I really don't know anything about the round. |

I'm guessing that you mean extended FORWARD as opposed to rearward? The backward facing hump or hook on an A3 M1 makes a forward extended rail very difficult. Peronsally I would not bother. I would use an A3 SA or A3 M2 if I needed an extended rail. The A3 M1 having been replaced by the A3 M2 the aftermarket turned away from the M1 to focus on the M2. There are, welll, actually, WERE, as in past tense, only 3 extended rail options for the A3 M1... Manticore $260 with 49 in stock. The Steyr one is good but requires a rigid maintenance schedule. Other than that, good to go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGIH4BzAOYk The Heresy one not so much. They use a barrel sleeve as a remote gas port solution. The port is further back than normal and gas travels in between the barrel and the sleeve up to the regualr port location. Unfortunately while this is a novel and good idea on the surface the execution didn;t work out as they have problems with the gas sleeve leaking seperating and coming loose. If someone asked me I would say that an actual gas tube like on an AR laid in a channel in the barrel that would then be held in by rings clamps or a sleeve might have worked better. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og-pLEwDDZ4 This has happened multiple times to multiple people with both the heresy 300 blk and their 7.62x39. That being the case heresy 9mm kits work as long as you repalce the feed system and tehir 5.56 barrels appear to be good to go as is. Their mag release is cool and helpful as is their safety selector. Tehy also make a nice enhanced NATO mag release that is WAY easier to install than factory, and they have some other AUG goodies I have not tried yet. |

I have one of the 300 BO barrels and I like it a lot. I’m using subsonic ammo with it and I haven’t had any problems. Additionally, my point of impact is centered as with the 5.56 barrel so no adjustments needed. I use an Acog and the drop at 100yds falls almost exactly where the 300yd mark is As for the price, you could just buy a dedicated AR upper and use that, as my friends do, but I enjoy the AUG and the barrel takes up very little space in the range bag, so it’s like 2 guns taking up the space of one gun. Also, I spray painted the numbers 300 in a discrete location so I don’t have any mixups |
