Gallowtech is dope and all, but I am looking to go for functional and cost effective. I am currently working on the gun room portion of my storage container and I want an upright solution for my rifles (pistols stay in the holsters on their respective belts. I looked into WallControl panels, but I think I can make something relatively nice for under $100. Any DIY suggestions? |

3/4" plywood. I used birch veneer because I like the grain. I ripped the top piece about 6" wide. Laid out the cuts for the barrel about 2.5" center to center, then drilled with about a 2" hole saw. After I had all the holes drilled, I ripped that 6" piece in half. The bottom piece the buttstock sit on is about 12". I used a pine 1x3 ripped in half to trim out the front. With different pieces of trim you could make it as fancy or plain as you want. I should have made the spacing between the upper part that supports the barrel and the lower shelf about 2" closer together. With 16" carbines I have to leave the stock extended further than I prefer to get them to stand correctly. Attached File |

I made the below rack for one my safes that holds some AR’s. I used adjustable guitar hangers. They work great cause they can be snugged down around the hand guard to keep them from moving around when grabbing a rifle. Attached File |

I used Wall Control and am very happy. I used hangers made for peg board with rubber hose pulled over them so they would be "rubber coated" this is for horizontal display. I did buy some of these for vertical storage because I ran out of room placing them horizontal. It works great. https://rackemdisplays.com/products/2-8-rifle-wall-display-peg-board/ James |
