I've been thinking about picking up a thermal optic for an AR to deal with a coyote problem. Most ranges should be inside of 150 yards but could go as far as 300. Any recommendations? I've been looking at the AGM RattlerV2 35-384 as a low cost option (but think there are better options in the 640 res price range), the NOX35, and Trijicon REAP-IR Type 4 35mm. I was leaning to the Trijicon REAP-IR Type 4 35mm because it seems the most durable, but they seem to be OOS everywhere, and being removed from some vendors, so I'm not sure if a new model is coming out or what. Thanks!

RH25 is excellent .

I believe a gen 2 is going to be released soon.

I had very similar needs. I went with a lightly used NOX 35 and I don't regret it one bit. Use it on my ARs or bolt rifles for 150 to 300ish yards on coyotes. It's the only thermal I own. We scan with it, then mount it to the rifle if we see some coming in or within range. It really shines in that role as it is so versatile. It's also built like a damn tank. It took a hard fall off my quad before while riding and was just fine.

The RH25 V2 is already out - I've got one, had one of the V1's... It's a super useful and very sharp optic. I'd use it as a standalone or clip-on at sub 150 yards. But if you're hunting at 100+ yards you want something with native magnification though.

Predator Vision: Armasight Contractor 640 Thermal Scope Review

I’ve only used the one, but I was very impressed with the Armasight Contractor 640.

About any 640 will do the trick. Depends how deep your pockets are. A 384 will be able to see PID at 300 yards depending on the manufacturer but a 640 will future proof you.

I think I'm going to settle in on the NOX35 as my dedicated optic.... Anyone use one of the cheaper AGM Rattlers as a scanner? I think I may also pick up the rattler v2 for this use, unless there are better alternatives.

Nox35 is suitable for leaving on the gun all the time, and frankly the AGM and Irays are better units overall and far less expensive. Most American thermals are not worth buying. I had a NOX35 and got rid of it.

For $200 more you could have the TX60C  and 1024x1024 resolution. Pulsar now offers a similar scope.

Consider also the Finder  640 resolution monocular with built-in LRF.
