 The Court That Just Struck Down Illinois' FOID Card Illinois v Brown - Illinois lost. Upshot - Only applies to Illinois residents in the counties in that Illinois court district, and only for possession inside the home, not for possession outside the home & not for purchase. |

If you’re in the jurisdiction of the Illinois 2nd Judicial Circuit Court then yes. Who’s going to stop you? Google says this includes the counties of Crawford, Edwards, Franklin, Gallatin, Hamilton, Hardin, Jefferson, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, Wayne and White. EDIT: Apparently the answer is the Illinois State Police will stop you, since FFLs in IL are stuck using their system instead of FBI NICS. Also the scope of the circuit court’s ruling may not invalidate 430 ILCS 65/3(a) |

That an Illinois or Federal judge has issued an injunction against the entire FOID scheme, which sadly hasn't happened yet. In those particular counties, criminal prosecutions against those residents w/ firearms in their home w/o a FOID card are suspended. |

The whole FOID thing if a F'ed up mess.... I recall way back in '95 visiting the future Mother-in-Law...ended up in a gun store and ask to look at an over and under shotgun. (this store was about an hour south of Chicago). The guy behind the counter said he had to see my FOID card to show it to me... I said I did not have one... He said - "Sorry I can not show you the gun". I said oh well - that I was from Florida and I would guess it would not have been possible for him to ship the gun to an FFL for me.... His eyes glazed over and he realized he had messed up...Oh Well..... Red |
