Have any of you used Doppler radars like the Labradar, garmin or athlon with a muzzleloader shooting a bullet with sabot? Curious if the sabot causes any issues, doesn’t seem like it would but wanted to check. |

I just picked up the athlon and I do not have any direct info regarding the sabots. There are guys using these with sharps rifles and BP cartridges using wads and paper patches and don't seem to have issues. I'll be finding out next week and if I have anything odd show up I'll post it. when setting it for a rifle the base velocity is 1000 fps, those sabots and wads drop velocity pretty fast and probably don't make it to the radar beam. Update: I used my Athalon yesterday with my sharps rifle, worked perfectly despite wads and shredded paper coming off my Paper patched bullets. |
