I heard from a reputable FN dealer today that the SCAR 15P is showing discontinued on his dealer website. Can someone confirm this? |

With them discontinuing these I’ll probably just ignore the desire to take this project on and forget about the SCAR. The 17S was a turd…not sure why I wanted this to be a thing. |

The 15P is ugly. There are plenty of cool short 5.56 guns (HK53, Sig 552/553, 5.56/5.45 Krinkovs), but this ain't one of them. Maybe if they went with the SCAR PDW instead. Now if they sold a 10" CQC pistol and 13" Mk17 pistol, they would sell every single one. A lot of people don't want to mess with buying one, then either chopping or spending another $1K on a new barrel. |

Has nothing to do with timing. Plenty of pistol format PCCs and 5.56mm/7.62mm guns were sold during the timeframe of the brace ban, both imported and domestic. Simply the SCAR-SC/15P is highly unattractive compared to what FN could have brought, like a 10” CQC SCAR 16 pistol or a 13” Mk17 pistol, considering the price tag as well. Furthermore the SC retractable stocks were difficult to source, making a niche SCAR configuration even less favorable. |

FN must not pay attention to us. We have been posting on this forum and others, the moment the 15P came out, that the pistol was dead on arrival unless they started including 300 blackout conversion kits. Period. The brace ban definitely did not help sales, but people who spend > $3000 on a scar 15p probably have the dough for a form 1. FN has done a great job of killing the SCAR since 2010 over a ten year period. They failed to support it and update it in a timely fashion (look at what Sig or CZ has done with their MCX and Bren platforms respectively). I love my SCAR 16 and 17, but I see them going away with the advent of flow through suppressors and the flood of high quality DI AR variants. Take an URGI upper on any AR, add a Flow 556k and you can do what the SCAR does only better (unless you are a Navy SEAL working in the surf). FN can redeem themselves by giving us an IWS program rifle that gives others a run for their money. Improve the stock, add a buffer system, use AR-10 mags, better charging handle design, etc. It is not rocket science or neurosurgery. |

Makes me want to pick one up with their rebate even more. There are aftermarket .300 BLK barrels to make it more functional, but they are expensive. I do wonder how far good 77 or 75 grain 5.56 would be effective out of it though. |

Our ARFCOM Youtuber showed they are very effective at close range from short barrels.  They Said Your Short Boi Was Useless! .223 vs .300 SHOWDOWN!!! He had another video and I can’t find it. So why not 5.56? Well because 300 blackout is better since you can run subsonics suppressed. 50 yards in, I much prefer that ability. It still had a ballistic edge over 5.56 out of a < 10 inch barrel. |

well... I picked up one today. shop was saying same thing thats posted here its dead. the had a FDE they wanted rid of and gave me 500 off, then the rebate of 500, I could not pass it up. I gave 2800 out the door. then with the 500 buck rebate I will only have 2300 in it. same as a rattler. I stuck a brace on it when I got home. form 1 has been filled. |

Yea, I think I’m going to pass and wait for the CZ Bren 3, which seems to be nicer than the SCAR. Now I need to sell the NIB SC stock that I have no use for lol. |

You can easily find barrel assemblies for <$1000. I look forward to picking up a cheap 15p 5.56 barrel once the 300blk is widely available. |
