I’m running a full size AP5 with the AS Designs Lower, geissele SSA with SS cut and rounded hammer from ASD, lever blocker, and GMR SS and the aluminum trip. I’ve upgraded the following parts to HK: mag release, mags, extractor and spring, and ejector spring (still looking for a gen 3 HK extractor). This gun runs flawless in semi mode with ASD lower and original MKE lower as soon as it goes in SS mode it gets these FTF/FTE. I cleaned the hell out of it today, bolt was mirror finish, chamber cleaned extremely well. First mag I get the failures below. Round not ejecting and bolt with freshly stripped round from mag gets hung up. I’m just at a point I don’t know what the hell else to do to get this gun running properly. Has anyone experienced these failures? Any idea how to prevent these failures. Like I said this gun runs flawless with original MKE lower edit: Running Win NATO 124gr and Blazer 115 Attached File Attached File

First, I'd verify bolt gap is within spec, and change to a 90 or 100 degree locking piece to bring down the rate of fire (standard MKE locking piece is a 115-120 degree). Otherwise, check that the ejector is properly centered in the bolt channel and freely moving. You can try an HK Gen 3 ejector (I'm assuming you meant ejector); however, the ejector and ejector spring that comes with the ASD lower should be fine. |

Bolt gap is 0.35-0.40mm. I am running a 90 degree POF locking piece. I am having a hard time understanding why the gun runs fine in semi no ejection problems, but experiences FTE inject sometimes first round on Super Safe. The bolt speed should be the same. |

If you remove the lower and place the SS in FRT position, do you get any hammer binding (i.e., while holding the hammer and riding it forward as you press the trigger)? If it's functioning 100% in semi, and you've got a 90-degree LP, it's possible you might be getting some binding, and it's slowing the bolt velocity enough to cause malfunctions. If so, the fix would be to take a small amount of material off the left rear corner of the trigger. A few passes with 400 grit should do it. |

Couple things I have noticed. There is play in the ejection lever, front to back and right to left (this is around the rotation axis). Here were some wear marks on the ejector. I did take apart the gun yesterday and put a 9mm round in the bolt and I could simple wiggle the bolt and the round would fall out. I put a new extractor spring (probably the 7th one I’ve installed) and it’s tight again. My guess is maybe it’s shoot one full mag clean on SS and then goes back to FT eject/FTF Attached File Attached File Attached File |

You're definitely getting contact between the ejector and bolt. Those wear marks shouldn't be there. I assume that's the ejector included with the ASD lower? If so, I'd contact them and see if they think it's an issue with the ejector retention piece or if the ejector itself is out of spec. The ejector should be centered in the channel and have little to no side-to-side play. You could probably fix it with a shim washer if ASD doesn't get you squared away, but I'd contact them first. ETA: If you remove the two torx ejector retaining screws, can you see any play where the (brass if I recall) retaining piece slips into the keyed notch in the lower? Or, is the play happening in the ejector itself (i.e., too narrow, wallowed out from the impacts with the bolt, etc.)? It would help to narrow down where you're getting play, and I'm sure ASD will replace it if their parts are to blame. |

Thank you Update: I took apart the ASDesigns ejector lever and the male T-slotted fulcrum does move front to back in the machined female T-slot. |

Given your update, I would contact AS Designs and see about them either sending you a new T-slot piece or possibly sending back the lower. Mine fits snugly, and there is next to no play in the ejector. It certainly isn't impacting the bolt. |
