Gentlemen,

I am desperately looking for an adapter for GSG5P (the one that screws into the front sight tripple clamp), with either three lug only, 12/28 threads only, or combination of both. Been looking for couple of weeks now, lurking on auction sites, etc. to no avail. If anyone has a lead (or has an extra to sell) I'd appreciate it.

Welcome to the club...lol. I've been searching for years on gunbroker. One popped up, attached to the pistol itself, seller wouldn't sell separately, now wishing I bought the whole pistol just for that trilug adapter lol. If you manage to find 2 please let me know and I'll buy the second one off you for a handsome profit :)

From my extensive research (and terrible memory) I believe Gemtech, Promag, and SwarfWorks made them (in limited quantities) many many moons ago.

You can still get these NOS for the GSG-5pk models (like an SP5k) but they won't work with the regular P(istol) - https://www.hkspecialiststore.com/product-detail?productId=328

Thank you for your kind words. Like a dummy, I thought I'll never need this gadget so many years ago, and never bought one. I think I purchased this thing in 2012. Fired couple of mags and forgot about it. So now I "discovered" it again, and went the SBR route, but that crucial little piece is missing! I have few multi-cal cans, and I want to make it really quiet. I guess I'll have to engage my machinist to make me one. All I need is a "plug" that would go over the barrel, thread into the front sight "clamp", and have 1/2x28 threads up front (or any other "normal" thread that we use in this country). To make the problem worse,.....I am finding all kinds of conflicting info on what size is the thread in that front sight post. I need the exact size, and my local machine shop can make one in 10 minutes.

Tell me about it! I purchased mine in 2012 as well (522 SD model though) and many years later picked up a regular 5p model, at which point I started hunting for that adapter. I too saw them, and ignored them, when they were readily available.

If you ever find out the thread pitch and a trilug adapter which works I would be grateful if you share the info!

I will let you know.

So, yesterday I went to the land I haven't seen in person since 1975. This time it was via Internet. Back then it was called Czechoslovakia, and today it's two separate countries. In one of them (Czech Republic) some enterprising person is selling a "barrel plug" that threads into the sight post on some Airsoft copy of MP5 (I think it might be by Cyma) and has 14x1 LH thread (AK standard) coming out the front. Since GSG5 (mine is 522 reworked into original 5) is basically reworked airsoft piece, most of the airsoft companies (Cyma, Marui, etc.) use standard threads to peddle accessories, I thought this might work on my rifle. I bought it. It was less than 8 Euro + shipping of another 8 or so. Nothing.

It MIGHT work, and it might not. I will find out in "20-40" days from now (snail mail from EU). I do have 14x1LH devices, brakes, flash hiders, adapters....so we'll see. I know that bunch of stuff made by Cyma and Marui fits our rifles. I recently purchased HK UMP style folding stock for this, made by Cyma (to replace German G3 stock), and it fits with a very minor modification. I am not a snob, and I have no problem putting airsoft stuff on .22LR rifle which was an airsoft rifle to begin with in its original iteration.

When this piece arrives from EU, I'll let you know if it works. If the threads in the sight post match, the worse thing will be to either drill the piece for the barrel to go through, or cut a little extra from the barrel, and recrown it (I do both of those operations myself).

Edit: Forgot to say.......what prompted me to buy it was his "disclaimer". It says the piece is "made of steel" (it says which steel) but the piece is "strictly airsoft accessory". This tells me that the regulations between the EU and USA forbid sales of "real firearm" accessories (without special license and a cut to the "man"), but anything "airsoft" goes. LOL

This will work. Barrel has to be cut even with the front sight post. It might need to be "tweaked" but looks like it fits. Waiting on confirmation of the thread size.

Edit: This project was successfully completed but the barrel needs to be cut further back than stated above. I cut it 1/8" longer than the ""shelf" inside the sight base against which the faux suppressor rests. I drilled the adapter 1/4" into the back side (M16x1 side). Once the adapter is fully threaded in, the barrel enters it for 1/8" (just to have a little flex and the barrel is not too rigid).

Gentlemen,

Being a nice guy as I am, I just wrote a detailed instructions how to modify the adapter that's available on Tacticool22 website for STG44. Since I am a "new account" (for few years, because I read and not post much), my post was rejected (too many letters). If you need an adapter for GSG5 that has 1/2x28 threads up front, drop me a PM, and I'll let you know how. It's cheap, and it's simple.
