Years ago one of the very top gunsmiths for Garands and M1As was Clint Fowler out of central Virginia. Sadly Clint passed around 2010 or so. Before he passed he wrote a book detailing all the processes and little tricks that he learned from many years of doing the work. Unfortunately I did not buy a copy when I had the chance.
