| I’m looking for a gunsmith that can repair a h&r 1873 trapdoor officers carbine . The trapdoor is looked up maybe a broken ejector ? Help ! Gun is over 55 years old and it’s been in the family since new . |
| The H&R trapdoors used a two-piece arrangement for the lever up top by the hammer that's used to open the action and the cam piece that locks the breechblock shut, held tight by a set screw. There's a chance that it's locked up because the set screw is loose or holding them in the wrong relationship. |

| I found a gunsmith to fix my problem. What really happened was the cam latch started spitting on its axis. So basically the cylindrical shaft that that’s attached by the set screw you’re speaking about the holes. The cam was locked in place, but the actual lock latch itself was spinning. I found a local gunsmith here in Miami and silver soldered the latch back onto the shaft . Gun Works I’m back to shooting it. |
