I've gotten the itch to try and add a rail forward of my optic for a NVD. The Badger EFDR looks like it will fit but then I will need to get higher rings... then a cheek riser...
If you have pics of how you made this work or your setup, please share for ideas. Attached File |

Yes. I had been looking for at least two years trying to add NV to a Ruger 10/22T that had to remain in a traditional style stock because of my states AW ban but no one makes a long enough rail.
I heard about EGW in PA but unfortunately they did not make an extended rail NV rail. They do make longer generic rails that would have to be machined and drilled for the Ruger hole pattern. So I contacted a gunsmith and he wanted $95 per hole plus whatever time it would take to machine the rail to fit the Ruger receiver. It just did not seem worth it. I tried MDT as I purchased a NV rail for my Rem 700 AAC SD from them. I inquired if it could be adapted to the Ruger 10/22 and they said no. People suggested the UTG extended rail but it look cheap and figured it was to flimsy to take a chance on. Looked around to see if anyone made an aftermarket fiberglass stock that a Badger Ordinance NV mount could be embedded into. I could not find one. I finally stumbled upon the KRG Bravo Ruger 10/22 stock and they make a NV rail that mounts into the stock. The stock has some sharp edges around the grip and I must say it was kind of a PITA to put together and obviously it will be a PITA to take apart to service the rifle. The grip closure fell out on my first outing. It makes a Ruger 10/22 Target rifle even heavier but it was the only game in town. After putting together the BRAVO I was still searching the net and found Adaptive Tactical. They had been making a barrel with the option of Tac-Hammer Optic Rail that gets mounted into the barrel itself. Unfortunately I was to late as they were discontinued. They still make the Tac-Hammer Optic Rail but again not sure what it would take to have the barrel machined to install it. So here is The Ruger 10/22 Target rifle in a KRG BRAVO Ruger 10/22 stock with a Vortex PST II 1-6 with a KAC UNS-SR. For years I was hoping I could find someone to make a Dovetail Mount so the UNS-SR could go into a WILCOX FTS Mount and that was before I even had the UNS-SR but no luck. Still need to work out a little height differential between the scope mount and the KRG NV mount. Also want to upgrade the scope to something with more magnification for day use but it has to have an illuminated reticle and capped turrets or locking turrets. With how popular the Ruger 10/22 is I still cannot believe there is not some company making and extended NV rail for it. " /> " /> |

Currently I am putting together a NV setup for an old Marlin 883 22 Magnum. The firearm itself is around 31 years old but it had always been a laser when it came to accuracy.
So how to set this one up given it has the dovetail on the receiver. Stumbled upon SPUHR and their A-700 which requires on of their mounts but quickly realized they were really expensive. After kicking it around it is the only way to get a NV Clip-On setup on this rifle. I picked up an A-700 off the EE but it did not have the required screws and adapter plate. Seller thought they were readily available from MileHigh but they were not. Kent over at MileHigh went above an beyond by reaching to SPUHR and ordering the individual parts which apparently had never been done before. Thanks Kent! Waiting for the brown truck to deliver them. Also ordered a Pic rail from DIP that fits the Marlin dovetail with torx screws. Not sure I feel 100% comfortable relying on torx screws to hold several hundred dollars worth of SPUHR mounts and a NV Clip-On but I will see how it plays out. Instead of finding a smith to tap the receiver it might be cheaper to buy a new Marlin 22 mag. Once I get it set up I will post pictures. |

View Quote Sadly, there are no new Marlin rimfires anymore and it is sad to seem hopefully Ruger starts having them be made again, but probably won't, sadly. Wish I picked up a few more when they were around. Can't wait to see this build. |

Not yet but your question reminds me that I need to get a NV bridge from MPA for my CZ 457.

Due to the lack of suitable rails for the 10/22, I put a SIMRAD with Badger rings on mine.

I haven't gone out and done it yet but I plan on using one of my C35 profiles for my AR using the CMMG kit for small game hunting.

It's coming along...
Ordered some bedding compound to line this pocket/clean up my Dremeling and a longer sling stud to run through the middle hole (recommended as an option by Badger) Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Well finished it up. It looked good to go when I let the epoxy cure but when I came back later, that EFR was definitely at a slight angle despite what the naked eye thought was true.
Wondering if I restart with a new stock or just see how bad the offset is when shooting with an NVD vs not. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

If you're going with night vision, why not helmet mounted nvg and IR laser?

I contacted Badger and was told to heat up the epoxy and it should lift out. Sure enough, I was able to pull the EFR, make some changes and re-bed it. Now it is about as straight as a Dremel job is going to get.
Much happier and can't wait to shoot it. Also, filed down the M-LOK tabs on this Magpul Crane pad mount and screwed them right into the stock where I can more easily actuate the laser versus reaching up onto the laser itself. Attached File Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Took it out last night.
Very happy. Conditions were too windy and wet to bother checking zero and then offset. Also was surprised how far the civilian i2 vis and IR laser went Attached File |

I had one of these rails. I plan on getting another. It would work for this application. You have to use the factory stock. Not my photo.

View Quote @EV1LblackRIFLE Can you provide more details and pictures of the rail that the RH is mounted on. Appears to be an integral suppressor so I assume you had it tapped for the rail. Was it one by the suppressor manufacturer or by other? Thanks |
