So, I have a DBAL D2 and have been waiting for someone to make a reasonable replacement (actually I'll probably keep the DBAL as a backup anyway). When the IRIS 3 came out I looked at the review videos and discovered that it might be a reasonable piece of kit. What I really wanted was something around $2k but performed close to a MAWL, the IRIS is cheaper than that. Anyway, who has experience with the IRIS 3, and has anyone who has NV experience formed an opinion they'd like to tell us about. |

Been out in hands a year now. One of mine is on a rifle I have shot about 4K rounds through since putting in on the rifle last year. Holding zero fine. I switched out the remote switch it came with, original worked fine, I just absolutely hate the "vis override" thing. Slider for adjustment of IR illuminator is great, easy to use and beats the hell out of trying to adjust by turning something. Unit has been out in the rain a handful of times, no issues. Due to various scuttlebutt "worries" online, I broke my own rule and left a battery in it most of the last year, battery still worked fine, dispelling any "worries" about parasitic drain. Great laser option . |

Check out the reviews on YT for more info. Especially 4MR, Hop, and Brass Facts. It would appear, at this point, the IRIS 3 is the best bang for the buck out there. Yes the MAWL has much better ergo, but you pay a shit-ton for it. Chose as ye will. I plan on slowly replacing everything I have with the IRIS 3/4 series. So no experience, just observations of reviews, and conclusion to try them out. I had fun with the SG and IS stuff, which were market disruptors, but all fun and games aside, I think this the way to go. YMMV. Subject to terrain and situation. But for me, I think Holosun has finally gotten to the point that their LAMS are worth buying. |

I have two of them and echo'ing the feedback that they're awesome! Power output levels are excellent for a non-mil/le onlt LAM. Two cons: 1. would prefer the illuminator adjustment allow for a somewhat wider beam in exchange for the narrow-beam end of its adjustment range. For my night shoots which are mostly 0-50 yards, I generally just leave the slider on the widest illuminator setting. 2. as others mentioned, the two selector switches are very stiff. In use it doesn't matter, you just leave it set to dual IR high and so it's not the sort of thing you're fumbling with on the range. |

Why can't the American units be more cost efficient and well designed! I certainly didn't want to buy Chinese, but the only other readily available unit that's better seems to be the MAWL. I can buy 3-4 IRIS 3s for the cost of a MAWL. I originally bought a DBAL D2 brick, but I thought it was only a placeholder until a better, cheaper, faster unit came out. Yeah, definitely wide. If you’re going to use the fire button and run it up front/change up the settings a lot, I can see it being crowded. In this application off a riser, using a tape switch it’s not an issue for me. |
