I went to the Blade show in Atlanta Saturday with a buddy. We decided that instead of driving back straight to Tennessee after, why not go over to the DMP Talladega Marksmanship Park and check out the last day of the D-Day matches and the store there. Also along the way we stopped in Anniston to get pics of the Garand Statue. At the CMP TMP store I ended up buying a Springfield 1903 with a 3-30 dated barrel. Ran the SN when we got home and it came back as 1930 as well. ME was listed as 1+ and TE of 2 but my buddy used hi gauge and got less than 1 on both. It will make a nice companion to the 03-A3 I bought last weekend at a gun show for $900. It's a Remington. barrel dated 6-43 and SN came up as July 43 so looks like both have original barrels. This one gauges like now as well. The finish had a brown residue on it but didn't look like rust. I figured it was cosmoline residue dried on. I gave it a good cleaning and it looks awesome now. Took both to the range to zero in a few hours ago Attached File I did well with the 03-A3 at 100 yards. Here is the 5hot group I did right after using 10 rounds to zero it Attached File I am very happy with that. Here is my final target at 100 with the 1903.
