I think this will be more useful as a supplement to other rifle mounted optics... But the features and price almost put it in the "too good to be true" category for me. Anyone else looking in to this? ETA: Is Infitac the same company as Infiray? |

I really struggle with the use case for a thermal pistol optic. I could be convinced that it could be useful as an offset/top-mounted on a rifle to supplement clip-on NV somewhat, or provide a little extra ability to spot something in foilage. But for a pistol? Like what's the scenario where you'd use this and not a white light? Funneling your entire visual focus through a tiny window like this seems like a situational awareness killer. |

I got one earlier today. Just screwing around with it, but so far I like it. Currently mounted on a $14 cheapo Amazon mount, since I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it. Not as clear as my super hogster, but considering the price/weight trade off, I'm okay with that. Not sure when I'll get out and shoot it, but hopefully soon. Took a quick video for a friend of mine about 30 minutes ago, so ignore my mumbling. I like the white hot best, but the black hot looked best on camera. The white hot was showing up way brighter on camera then it was in real life. Buildings are about 100 yards away, passing cars less than 50 Anyway, here you go. At first glance, my questions 1. CR2 rechargeable batteries exist, some of these rechargeable batteries have built in USB-C ports. Are these compatible, and if using a rechargeable CR2 battery, can they be recharged via the USB-C port on the optic? 2. Is there an external lockout feature to prevent inadvertent manipulation of the touchscreen by liquid? 3. Can someone who owns one spritz the screen with water and see how it affects the touchscreen, if at all? Can they wipe it off with a thumb and see if that has any affect? 4. Are there manual brightness controls? 5. I've heard reports of the thing rebooting or lagging when faced with something too close / bright, including muzzle flashes, is this accurate? Looks like it would be neat as a 45 degree offset mount, or as a thermal clip on in front of a 1x red dot with QD mount, or even a pocket-able handheld scanner. As far as pistoleros go, I think I'd prefer Holosuns new toy that works as both a red dot and thermal with the core mounted to a weapon light mount |

256 core, but for close range purposes (say 300 yards and in) that okay. My question would be what about the FOV? I'm guessing due to its size it has a very limited FOV, thermals are in my opinion primariy for detection and something with a very limitd field of view isn't really well suited or scanning an area. |

The performance is honestly amazing. Fov is pretty impressive. This is a garage (1.5 car) and my Buick at about 125 yards, for reference. Attached File My complaint is reliability. Performance is so good that if Trijicon had launched this it would be the second coming of the christ baby on all the forums. This is my dog at 165 yards, as well as above him sitting on top of the chicken coop, at 185 yards, a 32oz cup of 98f water (laser temp gauged). Attached File This is a rabbit at about 80 yards. Attached File Also, the target enhancement mode? It was painting the dog and cup of water red/orange at 185y. It also doesn't hit false positives. I cannot say enough good about this device at 4oz regarding it's performance, but the reliability is the opposite, and sadly, proportional. |

Okay, wow, that FOV is pretty damn impressive, I did not it expect it to be that good. Seems like the only issue is that it needs to be a bit more rugged perhaps. Not at all bad for a Gen 1 product, very encouraging. I think as a guy with limited resources and a never ending amount of things I want to buy though that I'm going to sit back and wait for a Gen 2. Pretty damn cool though. Thermal is a game changer. It ought to scare the crap out America that the Chinese are producing such high quality thermals as such low price points. |

Infitac has updated me with: Regarding your request to know the diagnosis result of the original device, currently we only identify that it doesn't pass the power test. But for further diagnosis, we need more time to do the adalysis. Thank you. What is the power test, and what are reasonable guesses as to cause of failure to pass it? Power test is to test the battery life. Currently we cannot make any possible assumption about it without further checking. Thank you for your understanding. So, I am not sure what they mean, but find it absurd to think "the batteries needed replacing" is the problem in their testing (batteries sent back had enough juice to power the device). Anyway, I hope more comes out on it. The unit really is pretty amazing performance wise, as you see. |

Updates: I have reached someone at Infitac who was at a level to have the answers to my questions: 1) The screen issue I suffered was a bad batch. It has already been addressed. 2) The product is being T&E'ed by various LE departments and groups, and so far it's doing very well. 3) Firmware updates will in the future be available for download without needing to send the unit in. It is my impression that Infitac intends to, and is positioning itself, to continue making inroads into this market, similar to Holosun in the mid teens. They have some people on staff that aren't the type to hop from shady company to shady company "until it catches up with them". I have asked that they consider suppying a forum rep to this and other forums, as people have a lot of questions and getting comprehensive data out of Infitac has been a frustration point, and a qualified rep authorized and capable of speaking to various things would help them in this market space. I can tell you that the 60hz rating is, if anything, conservative on this unit based on my observations. It is MUCH less laggy than my Armasight Sidekick 640, and with similar detection ability. To say I am impressed with its capability at its price point and at its size at ANY price point, is an understatement. |

So...one super cool feature or rather aspect of mounting this optic at 12 o clock on my Reptilia/nx8, is that I can have a locked in cheek weld and be looking through the scope with perfect sight picture, and then "pay attention" to my other eye and see/scan/aim using the Infitac. That is because it's literally a camera. You don't need to line up with it or look "through " it or maintain any kind of eyebox. It's just a screen. No parallax error, no loss of sight picture. Literally just "see the screen". This is useful for detection and then rapid PID under white light ("is that a coyote or the neighbors dog?" Split second PID with the white light as you're already on target.) Attached File |

Just a quick follow up on mine. Took it out again last night. It's been living on a 12.5" suppressed AR. Maybe 300 rounds so far without any issues. Last night I tossed on a FRT equipped Scar 17 just to see if i could kill it So far it's been pretty solid. Obviously, not a long term review, but mine has been okay. Held zero, etc. |

Infitac put out a firmware upgrade. I like the shake awake feature Version update instructions 1. Added Shake Wake function 2. Added reticle precision display when switching reticles 3. Added an on-screen notification when Sun Burn Protection is triggered 4. Optimized compatibility with power banks 5. Optimized performance and fixed bugs |
