Got my 04M 491A scoped. Shoots great. However, one issue... the inner magazine tube is difficult to seat all the way when I load more than five rounds. It goes in then gets caught up... I have to jiggle and bounce the butt off the ground lightly to get the inner tube to settle over the rounds inside the mag tube. Other than that, with standard .22LR ammo this thing is pretty dam accurate and fun to shoot.

First, try various LR ammo with different bullet profiles. Check for burrs on the tube that could hang up on the shoulder of the bullet. May have to chamfer the mouth of the tube follower. I have one rifle that has a similar problem, but only when trying to load shorts. Doesn’t like Remington, but good with CCI. Although it’s probably 95% a bullet profile, could also be hanging up on the rim of the cartridge. Best way to tell is to seat the tube then unload through the tube and check the cartridges for either shaved lead or shiny spots on the forward part of the rims. |
