So I recently purchased a Jap Type 99 paratrooper converted to 308 and the main reason I bought it was that it was converted to 308 so I could actually shoot it. It only came with one mag which is a converted MG13 mag. Is anybody still doing the conversions for these mags as I would like some more as I do plan on shooting it. TIA |

Hi from another Type 99 owner. Mine’s still in 7.7 but I’ve got a drop-in 7.62x39 kit. He also made .308 kits. The answer used to be Jim Langley, but he passed a few years ago. That was a MAJOR loss. I don’t know anybody who is still making them. My suggestion is to buy some MG13 mags and give it a try. I just got lucky and found a bag of them at a gun show. It’s on the to-do list. |

I have 7.62X39 and 308 conversions for my Type 99 LMG. The 308 can use the MG13 mags but I also have an adapter to use M14 mags. I have never tried it but I think it will also work with the original magazines too. |
